Chonies' old sentient battle-mech, Cy-Bark, returns... except he is not so sentient anymore.
An intergalactic thief named Mavis has taken control and abducts the little chihuahua, not only for a bounty on his head, but also revenge for him stealing her targeted treasures.
It doesn't take long for the rest of the crew to learn that Ed is the true criminal mastermind. Now they must now find a way to rescue Chonies, as well as face Ed's past.
Tropes
- Calling Card: Ed's recent thefts have him leave these. He added Chonies' face on them to cover his tracks, leading to Mavis dognapping him.
- Continuity Nod: Garbage breaks down crying when he sees what he thinks is Chonies' lifeless body. It turns out it was a hunted alien deer that they saw before in "Galactic Tactics", whose species bare an uncanny resemblance of the chihuahua.
- Dramatic Irony: Chonies insists that he's not a deceptive conman like Ed, let alone a thief, also like Ed. In order to escape from Mavis and reclaim Cy-Bark, however, he resorts to lying and cheating his way out, acting more like Ed.
- Freak Out: Because of how close they are, Garbage becomes emotionally distraught when Chonies is abducted. He desperately spends all episode passing fliers with Chonies' picture, as if an owner finding their own lost dog.Garbage: Have you seen dog?! Have you seen this adorable little dog?!
- Hope Spot: Cornered, Ed finally comes clean and apologizes to his victims for his misdeeds. They would be willing to forgive if he returned everything he stole... except he already spent/used/ate them all beforehand.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Many of Ed's victims recognize his face (though not his name) and try to get back at him for stealing their goods or conning them overall. Luckily, Chonies escapes just in time to save him and the others.
- The Most Wanted: When Chonies is dognapped because of a galaxy-wide bounty on his head, Pepper immediately deduces that he is the least likely one to be targeted in the first place. By order of the likelier potential targets - from least to greatest infamy - are Stella, Pepper herself, Nomi, Garbage, and of course... Ed.
- Running Gag: All of Ed's victims call him by his allies' names. Even Pepper, the latest Pluto member.
- Wham Shot: Chonies discovers why Cy-Bark is acting hostile towards him: besides Mavis piloting him, his Sentient Stickers were peeled off.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Mavis wanted to become recognized as a master thief, and so she is willing to take Chonies' identity to accomplish this when she is about to be arrested. Unfortunately, the "real Chonies" (aka, Ed) calls in to take credit, robbing her of even that.
