Jack gets a visit from his old friend, Chet Brooks. The two plan to get together properly, but Chet crashes jack's car while driving it and is presumed dead in the crash.
"Nirvana" displays symptoms of the following tropes:
- And Starring: Maggie Han gets special credit as Sunshine.
- Chick Magnet: Chet is able to seduce both Sunshine the instructor and Lydia Clayton, the head of the facility. At the same time while also ripping money off from them.
- Cool Car: Chet leaves Nirvana in a bright red vintage car.
- Faking the Dead: As it turns out, Chet actually murdered Pauli Rupp, and his was the body found in the car crash.
- Mooks: Harry Malko and Max Finnegan, the two thugs that are looking for Chet on Pauli's orders.
- Shout-Out: Norman quotes Walter Scott's Marmion when talking of Jack's timecard.
Oh what a tangled web we weave/When first we practice to deceive
- You Wouldn't Shoot Me: Jack says this to Chet when he pulls a guard's gun on the plane, saying Chet isn't a killer. He is right that Chet wouldn't shoot him, but is pretty sickened to find out he murdered Pauli Rupp.
