A Dee Dee Cartoon contains examples of:

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Dee Dee uses Dexter's catchphrase at the end of the cartoon when she tells herself to get out of her laboratory.
  • Fantasy Sequence: The whole episode is Dee Dee pretending she has her own lab and saves the Earth from a meteor.

Would You Like That in the Can? contains examples of:

  • Becoming the Mask: Douglas gets a little too into pretending to a girl, he does some skipping and starts playing with a doll.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Miss Empowering Penny Doll that Douglas brought with him as he and Dexter were preparing to the girls' bathroom. He uses it to stop the girls from beating him and Douglas up when they discover they're boys and allow them to leave the bathroom in peace by threatening to break it.
  • Crossdresser: Dexter and Douglas both dress up as girls to sneak into the girl's bathroom and get Dexter's lunchbox back.
  • Iris Out: The iris closes on Dexter’s face as he and Douglas get laughed at by jocks.
  • Irony: At the end of the episode when Dexter and Douglas end the girl's room and Dexter says wouldn't let the girls make fool out of them, they get made fun of by jocks since they are wearing their girl disguises.
  • Not So Above It All: While Dexter gets annoyed with Douglas playing with the Miss Empowering Penny Doll when they are leaving the Girls' bathroom, he decides to play with the doll as Douglas uses the bathroom.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Dexter and Douglas get this reaction once the girls figure out who they are after Douglas leaves the toilet seat up when he needs to use the bathroom.
    • The Girls after they see that Dexter has a beloved doll of theirs, Miss Empowering Penny, and threatens to break unless the girls let him and Douglas just leave the bathroom.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Dexter and Douglas's girl disguises aren't really that good since the girls could easily recognize their faces and their voices but it still works. Averted at the end of the episode however, when they leaves the bathroom still in their disguises when some Jocks recognize him and Douglas and make fun of them.
  • Sexophone: It plays after we get the first glimpse of Dexter and Douglas in their girl disguises.
  • Tempting Fate: After narrowly avoiding a beating from the girls and exiting the girls bathroom, Dexter declares he wasn’t going to let the girls make him and Mordecai look like fools, but then some jocks laugh at them.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Just as Dexter and Douglas triumphantly walk out of the girl's bathroom still in their girl disguises, after Dexter saves them from getting beaten up the girls, and states he wasn't going to let a bunch of girls make a fool out of them, three jocks humiliate them for dressing as girls.
    Douglas: Way to go, Dexter!
Dexter: Yes. Thanks Mordecai. I wasn't going to let a bunch of girls make a fool out of us. [Three jocks start laughing]
Jock: Looking Good Dexter! Whoo! [Iris closes on a humiliated Dexter's face]]
