Kaiju, giant japanese monsters that seem to love destroying entire cities. There have been many Kaiju created, such as Godzilla, the King of Monsters, and Gamera, the Guardian of the Universe.

These two have a box-office rivalry spanning for 50 years, going back to the 1960's. But despite fighting nearly every other Kaiju ever created, these two have never battled each other...until today! With that said, let's analyze their Weapons, Armor, and Skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

To start with, Wiz and Boomstick analyze Godzilla. In the year 1954, less than a decade after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was in the middle of a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union. While testing their newly made Hydrogen Bomb across the Pacific Ocean, one of these bombs woke something up from beneath the waves. That..."thing"...was Godzilla, a radioactive monster who has both saved and destroyed, Japan.

Battle]].

To start with, Wiz and Boomstick analyze Godzilla. [[Film/Godzilla1954 In the year 1954, 1954]], less than a decade after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was in the middle of a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union. While testing their newly made Hydrogen Bomb across the Pacific Ocean, one of these bombs woke something up from beneath the waves. But, considering a majority of Godzilla's enemies are also huge, nuclear-powered monsters, he can't just walk past them to defeat them. For one, he is incredibly strong, able to lift and throw his rival, Kaiser Ghidorah, who weighs 100,000 tons. He uses this strength by attacking with his claws, teeth, tail, and drop kicks that can defy gravity. He also has several nasty moves that destroy lots of cities. One of these is a short-ranged nuclear pulse, mostly as a way to counter enemies that are grabbing him. He also has his signature Atomic Breath attack, which is a laser of pure radiation to obliterate entire rows of enemies. For those of you wondering why such an epic attack was never in the 1998 movie, that is not Godzilla. That is actually Zilla, the bastardized American version. Toho literally bought the rights to it just to kill it in Godzilla: Final Wars, with just the standard Atomic Breath, which is Blue. After absorbing the soul of a Giant Pterodactyl (I'm not making this up), he gained the ability to fire the more powerful Spiral Atomic Breath, which is Red. It's so powerful that, after a few blasts, it was able to kill Godzilla's more powerful clone, Space Godzilla (again, not making this up). His durability is uncanny and his strength is godly. He has sharp dorsal plates, and can breathe underwater, which makes sense considering he was sleeping under there since the time of the dinosaurs. If that's not a testament to his power, he has the ability to regenerate himself using the Regenerator G1 ability, allowing him to heal his wounds. Despite being vulnerable to man-made electricity such as power lines, natural electricity, like lightning, gives him the ability to become a giant magnet, which he used in order to defeat the monstrous Mecha Godzilla, or enhance his abilities.

Among the awesome abilities that Godzilla has, there's one that is admittedly silly. So silly, it's kind of cool. If he needs to move somewhere fast, he turns away from where he is going, bends over, and breathes a large gust of nuclear breath that propels him forward. It. Is. Hilarious. It also shows how powerful his breath is. In order to lift himself, Godzilla needs to blow 328 trillion PSI. That's equal to 1 Trillion riot control fire hoses, which would be enough to wrap around the planet 38 thousand times. Godzilla has 44 Wins, 9 Losses, and 7 Ties in his record, 10 of which were monsters he defeated in a row during the movie Godzilla: Final Wars. He was able to regenerate his entire body back from just a beating heart. He was able to survive, and escape, a black hole, tanked a meteor blast to the face, matched Marvel's Thor in terms of strength, fell into a volcano and survived, and battled Rodan for 12 hours. Despite this, Godzilla is not indestructible. He has a sensitivity to light, which is why most of his fight scenes are at night or during a storm, he is relatively slow, somewhat clumsy due to his size despite having two brains, one in his head and one near his rear end, lost to both King Kong and Mothra, has a weak spot at his gills, and has died in 4 separate films, such as when he was attacked with the oxygen destroyer, and against Mecha Godzilla 2 (and before you ask, there are 3 Mecha Godzillas). But even though he has lost, his victories far exceed his losses. There's a reason he's the king of the monsters after all.

-->'''Godzilla:''' ''(roars loudly)''

With Godzilla covered, Wiz and Boomstick move on to Gamera. The year was 1965, the apex of the space race between the US and the Soviet Union. Technology was advancing faster and farther before than even the industrial revolution and renaissance. But nothing could prepare the world for the monstrosity underneath their own waters. Long ago, the people of the city of Atlantis learned how to create life, and foolishly decided to play God. The result of their labor were giant birds that had the ability to shoot lasers. They couldn't be controlled, and that is how Atlantis was destroyed. Their answer to counter these giant monsters? Why, another giant monster of course. Enter Gamera.

* BrawlerLock: Godzilla and Gamera engage in a couple of these.

* Kaiju: This episode's combatants are arguably two of the most iconic examples.
* MagicVSScience: Gamera is the magic, utilising spiritual energy like mana for his most powerful techniques. Godzilla is the science, with powers that are at least tangentially grounded in scientific concepts. This is actually a factor as to how Gamera lost. Because Godzilla uses radiation rather than fire or mana, Gamera could not feed off even his most basic attacks.

[[Recap/DeathBattleS02E11CaptainAmericaVsBatman Next time on Death Battle...]]]]

! Godzilla VS Gamera contains examples of...
* Acrofatic: Downplayed. Gamera isn't exactly "fat" but you wouldn't expect a 10,000 ton turtle to be as a gile as he is.
* AnArmAndALeg: Godzilla rips off one of Gamera's arms in the climax. This wound incentivises Gamera to use his Mana Beam in an attempt to finally kill Godzilla.
* TheBadGuyWins: Godzilla started this fight going on a rampage against innocents. His victory against Gamera means that he can continue that rampage uncontested.
* BaitAndSwitch: The climax of the fight has Gamera use his Mana Beam to seemingly destroy Godzilla. As it turns out he just hid under water to catch Gamera off guard.
* BehemothBattle: The very first example of one in the show's history, which naturally comes with the two combatant's effortlessly destroying the city around them.
* Breath Weapon:
** Godzilla's signature Atomic Breath, which is a blast of pure, concentrated radiation. When that won't do the job, Godzilla can upgrade for the Red Spiral Ray.
** Gamera's is of the [[PlayingWithFire fire breath]] variety and is so strong it can be used underwater.
* CreatingLifeIsBad: Zigzagged. The Atlanteans tried their hand at playing God and ended up creating city-destroying Kaiju. Gamera was created as a way to combat these threats but the hosts also note that Gamera is on the side of ''Earth'', not humanity.
* DestructiveSavior: Gamera arrives to stop Godzilla's rampage but it doesn't take long for him to start chucking buildings around.
* DownerEnding: The only reason the fight started was because Gamera was trying to protect the Earth from Godzilla's rampage. The fight ends with the planet losing its only savior and Godzilla continue his rampage.
* EnergyAbsorption:
** Godzilla is noted to be capable of absorbing radiation, electricity, a [[TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers pterodatcyl's soul]] to empower himself.
** Likewise, Gamera can also do this with fire and mana as a means of healing and energizing him.
* FragileSpeedster: Gamera. He's surprisingly speedy and can also fly on top of that. However, his shell is sur so fragile it is able to be pierced by a lesser foe. This is one of the reasons why Godzilla had no problems defeating him.
* HeroicSacrifice: After Godzilla effectively [[NoSell no sells]] his ultimate attack, Gamera opts to use his [[SuicideAttack Fire Ejection Technique]] in an attempt to finally rid the world of Godzilla. Sadly, Godzilla kills him before he can use it and even if he did manage to use it, its unclear if [[SenselessSacrifice it would have even killed Godzilla]].
* MightyGlacier: Godzilla is this. He has insane strength, durability and a HealingFactor in case things get dicey. He is also very slow and clumsy.
* MistakenForPedophile: Upon hearing that Gamera has a "fondness for children", Boomstick breaks out into song before Wiz sets him straight.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Downplayed. Gamera does explode into little pieces but his post-fight animation just has a scene of the ocean.
* NoSell: Godzilla barely even notices tanks firing on him.
* ShockAndAwe: One of Godzilla's lesser used abilities. He can summon lightning and has a magnetic field. In the fight he uses this to throw Gamera off him.
* SuperBreath: Godzilla's Atomic Breath can be used like this, being so powerful it can [[NotQuiteFlight propel him into the air and fly]].
* TacticalWithdrawl: This is how Gamera usually wins his fights, which was deemed the biggest reason as to why he lost. With no prep time, Gamera was ill-equipped to deal with Godzilla and Godzilla wouldn't exactly let him run away.
* RuleOfFunny: How the hosts consider Godzilla's ability to do an "epic gravity-defying dropkick". Godzilla even uses it as an attack against Gamera.
* WalkingWasteland: Godzilla's mere presence is described as being able to render city blocks completely uninhabitable.
* WaveMotionGun: Gamera's Mana Beam is a massive blast of pure mana, able to completely decimate buildings and other Kaiju.
* YourSizeMayVary: Throughout the fight, Godzilla is shown to be just slightly larger than Gamera. That is until the end when he activates his Red Spiral Beam and he is shown to be vastly larger than Gamera.

We see that Godzilla continues roaring in victory. Gamera may have had the advantage in speed, but Godzilla's strength and size were the ultimate winners for this fight. Godzilla is nine times heavier than Gamera, his 90,000 tons beating out Gamera's 10,000 tons. Also, while Gamera was barely able to survive getting hit with a nuke that wiped out Sendai, Godzilla got hit by a similar explosion from a meteorite and shook it off like it was nothing. Gamera's shell was also pierced by the squid monster Viras, who is much weaker than Godzilla, meaning Godzilla could easily pierce Gamera's shell. Godzilla was, after all, able to outmatch Thor in strength. Plus, since the Atomic Breath is composed of radiation, and not fire, Gamera would be unable to feed off of it. However, the most important factor is that Gamera's strategy is victory through retreating. Gamera tends to win in two rounds, one where he analyzes his foe, and the other where he uses his knowledge of them to claim victory. This is a good idea on paper, but since Death Battles are usually one-round fights, and since Godzilla doesn't let his foes retreat, there's no way Gamera could win this. The winner is Godzilla.

He has sharp dorsal plates, and can breath underwater, which makes sense considering he was sleeping under there since the time of the dinosaurs.

It's so powerful that, after a few blasts, it was able to kill Godzilla's more powerful clone, Space Godzilla (agian, (again, not making this up). His durability is uncanny and his strength is godly. He has sharp dorsal plates, and can breath underwater, which makes sense considering he was sleeping under there since the time of the dinosaurs.

He has a sensitivity to light, which is why most of his fight scenes are at night or during a storm, he is relatively slow, somewhat clumsy due to his size despite having two brains, one in his head and one near his rear end, lost to both King Kong and Mothra, has a weak spot at his gills, and has died in 4 separate films, such as when he was attacked with the oxygen destroyer, and against MechaGodzilla Mecha Godzilla 2 (and before you ask, there are 3 MechaGodzillas).Mecha Godzillas). But even though he has lost, his victories far exceed his losses. There's a reason he's the king of the monsters after all.

The two re-enter Earth's atmosphere and we see that it is thundering a lot harder now. Godzilla calls upon nature's electricity and uses his nuclear pulse to push Gamera away from him. Gamera goes back into his shell form and hits the water. In an attempt to slow his descent, and to try and hit Gamera, Godzilla fires his atomic breath into the water. After a few seconds, the two rise out of the sea and grapple each other. Gamera hits Godzilla in the jaw as he did before, but Godzilla grabs onto Gamera's arm with his mouth and rips it off. He drops the arm into the ocean and gets ready to go after Gamera again, but Gamera begins calling upon the Mana of the Earth, readying the Mana Cannon. Godzilla readies his Atomic Breath to counter. Gamera fires off the Ultimate Mana Cannon before Godzilla can fire his Atomic Breath. The Mana Cannon destroys a bridge and Godzilla lets out a roar. The screen goes white as we see Gamera standing there, without his arm. It looks as though Godzilla has won, but Godzilla rises out of the ocean behind Gamera. Godzilla grabs the turtle kaiju, who then retreats into his shell and prepares to use the Fireball Ejection Suicide. Godzilla throws the turtle into the air as his spikes glow red instead of blue as Godzilla fires the Spiral Atomic Breath and lifts Gamera's shell into the air. The red laser penetrates Gamera's shell and causes him to explode. Godzilla is still standing in the water and lets out triumphant roar.

'''Godzilla''': In the year 1954, less than a decade after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States was in the middle of a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union. While testing their newly made Hydrogen Bomb across the Pacific Ocean, one of these bombs woke something up from beneath the waves. That..."thing"...was Godzilla, a radioactive monster who has both saved and destroyed, Japan.

Godzilla stands at 355 feet tall, or 100 meters. He weighs 90,000 tons, or 81.6 million kilograms. Known as Gojira in Japan, Godzilla is over 65 Million Years Old, making him as old as dinosaurs. He literally eats radiation and has a nuclear-powered heart. On top of that, he is mutated by radiation from the Hydrogen Bomb that woke him up. To make him more awesome then he already is, Toho gave him the ability to know how to do Judo and Boxing. He is an unstoppable force of nature. Military from all countries have attempted to destroy him, and very few have succeeded. Japan is Godzilla's favorite stomping grounds for 60 years, for some reason. As if the US didn't cause enough problems with Little Boy and Fat Man. To make matters worse, everything Godzilla walks past becomes contaminated with nuclear waste thanks to his radiation, including water, buildings, the land, and people. His presence can make an entire city block completely uninhabitable, just like that one guy who needs to practice his drums at 2 o'clock in the morning.

But, considering a majority of Godzilla's enemies are also huge, nuclear-powered monsters, he can't just walk past them to defeat them. For one, he is incredibly strong, able to lift and throw his rival, Kaiser Ghidorah, who weighs 100,000 tons. '''Gamera''': The year was 1965, the apex of the space race between the US and the Soviet Union. Enter, Gamera.

Gamera is the Guardian of the Universe and Friend to all Children. He stands at 262.5 feet tall, or 80 meters, and weighs 10,000 tons, or 9 million kilograms. He is up to 150 million years old, and feeds on fire, plasma, and mana. That last one, we'll discuss later. He is more intelligent than most humans, and is a great gymnast...somehow. Despite being 10,000 tons, Gamera is quite agile. Gamera has two incredibly large tusks, elbow spikes, and a fire breath that can defy the laws of physics and be used underwater. Well, to be clear, it's not fire so much as it is incredibly hot plasma, which is the 4th state of matter. The hottest plasma ever created exceeded 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit, or 1.9 million degrees Celsius. That's hotter than the temperature of the Sun, and even hotter than lightning. Gamera's fireball moves can actually blast through anything, really. But even though his fire can go out his mouth, he also takes fire in it. He literally eats fire. Eating fire is a way for Gamera to heal himself and gain back energy. As a giant turtle monster, Gamera can retract himself into his shell for extra defense, after which he can use to fly around like a spinning disk. Gamera can clock in at Mach 3, which is over 2,000 miles per hour, and beats out the SR-77 Blackbird's speed, which is record holding.

Gamera's abilities are based around something known as Mana, which is ethereal force that connects all things, both living and inanimate. For some reason, Mana can be measured using a Sega Dreamcast. Everything has a finite pool of Mana, but how much of it they possess depends on how much influence and authority over others that they have. Since Gamera controls the fate of the world, his Mana level is almost immeasurable. Gamera can control his Mana, even during combat. If Gamera ever runs low on Mana, he can summon it from the Earth itself, allowing him to fire the Ultimate Mana Cannon, which can obliterate almost any enemy. Gamera has 16 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties on his record. He has a famous steadfast determination and can catch a missile moving at Mach 10 speeds. His plasma breath is more powerful than the Tsar Bomb, which can deliver a 50 megaton explosion. He can jump hundreds of feet in the air, has blown up a star destroyer (no joke), repaired an alien spaceship, survived orbital re-entry, including a crash landing, can fly through space, and survived a nuclear explosion strong enough to destroy Sendai. Sendai is 52 miles across, making this explosion about as strong as 112 megatons. He has a very powerful will to win, battling even through intense amounts of pain.

However, while he has great strength, he also has quite a number of weaknesses. While he is very durable, his so called impenetrable defenses have been pierced before, mostly through the bottom since it is weaker than the top. That makes sense, and doesn't seem too bad until you realize that Gamera stands on his hind legs during almost every fight he's in. He has a strategy of running after a fight, which means he's usually very badly hurt, and he can be left open if his opponent is faster or has better range on him. He has to rely on human connection in order to maintain his Mana, and will put the Earth's safety above his own. He's vulnerable to his own plasma, and, unfortunately, couldn't care less about the life on Earth so long as the Earth itself doesn't get destroyed. In fact, Gamera's greatest fear is that Earth's greatest enemy will be humanity. And yet, despite this, Gamera loves children, since they are innocent, and could still grow up to protect the planet. In fact, he cares so much for children that he's sacrificed himself to save their life, even using his Fireball Ejection Suicide for the safety of innocent children. Still, he's a tough turtle, and he's shown he's incredibly smart and strong.

So, now that our combatants are set, let's find out which of these giant movie monsters is deadliest. IT'S TIME FOR A KAIJU DEATH BATTLE!

The scene begins in a seaside city that is more than likely located in Japan. Dark clouds loom overhead, and the seas seem to be stirring. We see some familiar looking dorsal plates rise out of the water before the scene cuts to black. Then, we see Godzilla rise out of the ocean with his trademark roar. Tanks roll in rather quickly and take aim at the monster, but as with nearly every incarnation of Godzilla, they don't even phase him as he crushes one tank and sends the others flying away. After another cut to black, we see Godzilla stomping around and destroying everything in the city. Soon, we see Gamera flying towards him. Gamera lands and lets out a roar as Godzilla lets out his own. We zoom out and see the two monsters facing each other, ready to kill...

'''FIGHT!'''

Gamera picks up a chunk of a building that Godzilla destroyed while the spike-backed monster walks towards the turtle. Gamera throws the building piece, but Godzilla charges right through it, the attack having no effect. Godzilla continues walking forward. Gamera takes a deep breath and uses his fire-breathing attack on Godzilla, but it seems to have no effect on the King of Monsters. Godzilla slashes Gamera in the face with his claws, but Gamera hits back with his own. He uses his head to hit Godzilla in the jaw from below. Godzilla, enraged, grabs Gamera and slams him into a nearby building, destroying it. Godzilla then grabs Gamera by the arm and throws him into a group of buildings, destroying those as well. Godzilla backs up while the Friend to All Children is on the ground and blasts him with his Atomic Breath. After one hit, Godzilla does what he usually does and starts blasting the city. A wall of fire in front of Godzilla. The Lizard Kaiju thinks he has won, but Gamera swallows the fire, healing himself. He uses his strength to blast fireballs at Godzilla, which knock him back a few times. Godzilla slams his tail into the ground and uses one of his drop kicks to charge at Gamera. Godzilla knocks Gamera on his back and attempts to crush him, but Gamera retreats into his shell. Godzilla is confused as to what is happening as Gamera begins flying with his spinning shell. Godzilla loses track of the turtle kaiju, who uses this to his advantage. He gets behind Godzilla and hits him in the back. Soon, it begins thundering as Godzilla attempts to hit Gamera with his atomic breath. However, it does nothing as Gamera is too fast for Godzilla to hit. Gamera attempts to hit Godzilla in the stomach, but Godzilla grabs the flying turtle when he gets closer. Gamera then withdraws his head and arms as his legs are still in his body, firing fire as Godzilla is lifted into the air by Gamera. Godzilla attempts to hit Gamera once again with the atomic breath, but Gamera is too low for Godzilla to hit. Godzilla's breath instead starts destroying the city. The two end up in space, outside of Earth's orbit. Godzilla is unable to move because of the Zero G's of space. Gamera uses this opportunity to get behind Godzilla push him back towards the Earth.

'''K.O.!'''
