- Continuity Nod: As a wish of good luck, Norma tells Barney to not die again, referencing his death in The Nightmare Before Christmas In July.
- Gilligan Cut: When Pugsley disapproves of Barney participating in demon wrestling, he initially assumes that Norma and Courtney will disapprove, only to cut to them approving excitedly. He then cites Barborah's disapproval, only for her to approve as well. The pug still refuses to consider the possibility that no one else will draw a line and then cites Fingers, only for the angel to consider it a splendid idea, to the dog's chagrin.
- Tangled Family Tree: Apparently Asmodeus is Temeluchus' 12th cousin and Zagan's long-lost twin. Norma is confused as to how that works.Norma: (looking through the book) The Demonic Royal Family is pretty complicated.
