Helping with Gosalyn's homework, Darkwing shows her famous Mallards from history. She sneaks back into time with Quackerjack's timetop and brings them to the present. None of them seem to be as great as they were thought to be. When Megavolt steals Darkwing and Launchpad's nervous energy, the failures have a chance to prove they are heroes at heart.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Hoist by His Own Petard: After his generator is broken and all the nervous energy he took from his victims is restored, Darkwing gives Megavolt A Taste Of His Own Medicine by zapping him with his own Ray Gun.
  • Taken for Granite: Anyone drained of their nervous energy by Megavolt's gun is reduced to a pale immobile statue.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Sir Quackmire, Webwolf and Quack Mallardson eventully gather their courage to defeat Megavolt.
  • Verbal Tic: Quack Mallardson always ends his sentences with "I reckon".
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: Launchpad fiddles around with Quackerjack's time top and suddenly vanishes in a puff of smoke, and Darkwing and Gosalyn only have two seconds to grieve until Launchpad returns dressed like a Roman legionnaire. He is overjoyed to see everyone, as he just spent the last three years invading Gaul with the Roman army. The others just shrug it off and get on with the main story.
    Darkwing: "As I said three years ago; Let's get dangerous!"
