Recap / Darkwing Duck S 1 E 44 My Valentine Ghoul

Go To

Negaduck returns to wreak havoc on both Darkwing's professional and personal lives all at once. While attempting to get funds for another evil scheme, he simultaneously tries to seduce Morgana back to the dark side, via literal seduction. Will true love conquer all, and will Darkwing ever learn to trust his girlfriend?

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Under the influence of a potion, Darkwing calls Negaduck "Negsy" and "Negmeister."
  • Anticipatory Breath Spray: A variant; when Darkwing disappears during a date in the Tunnel of Love, Morgana grumpily states it had better be to get a breath mint.
  • Love Potion: Gosalyn makes one, intending to use it on her father and his estranged girlfriend. She only succeeds in making a spider fall in love with a bat and making Darkwing, herself, and two bats fall in lovenote  with Negaduck (let that sink in for a minute). Fortunately, Morgana uses the love potion to defeat the episode's villain.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Negaduck throws himself at Morgana as Darkwing comes in the door, making it look like he caught them in a romantic embrace. Morgana tries to protest that the situation's appearance is misleading.
  • Valentine's Day Episode: Morgana MacCawber goes on a Double Date with Darkwing and Negaduck at the carnival on Valentine's Day. Negaduck tries to convince Morgana that he has reformed and made his own chocolate factory, but he is actually trying to convince her to go back to a life of crime.
