Red Light

Cat Adams admits to having her girlfriend kidnap Diana and promises to tell her not to kill her if Reid can guess her riddle. Former SSA Morgan shows up and says he received a suspicious text from someone they all assume is Peter Lewis pretending to be Garcia.

Provides examples of:

  • Ambiguously Jewish: Cat says "Mazel Tov" when drinking imaginary margarita to her pregnancy.
  • Blatant Lies: Reid's impassioned speech about being in love with Cat is so transparent that it offends her. The purpose was to put on a show for Lindsey, though.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with the team minus Reid getting hit by a truck with a driver who's aiming.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: As usual, averted. Cat claims that Lindsey raped Reid after she drugged him in Mexico. It's treated as real, but when it turns out to be unrelated to the Cat's pregnancy after all, it's left ambiguous if it really did happen or not.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Lindsey lets the whole plan go to waste because the love of her life, Cat, cheated on her.
  • Imagine Spot: Cat imagines being in a luxury hotel version of prison to keep from going mad. She takes Reid there. Judging by the way it's shot it's only in her mind.
  • Irony: The first time Reid met Cat, she wanted to kill him for trying to hire her to kill his pregnant wife (which was, of course, a cover story). This time, Reid tries to kill her, while she is pregnant.
  • Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: Cat claims that Reid is the father of her unborn child, via Lindsey raping him in Mexico, getting his sperm in the process, and using that to artificially inseminate Cat. It turns out to be a lie; Cat was manipulating a prison guard by having a sexual relationship with him, and he's the real source of her pregnancy.
  • Meaningful Name: Invoked by Cat in her usual Insane Troll Logic-y way. She claims that she wants to name her baby Maeve if it's a girl because "she played a huge role in her own conception".
  • Mistaken for Racist: The gun shop owner, when questioned by two black FBI agents, assures them that the reason he won't talk to them is definitely NOT that he has something against the color of their skin. He ends up letting it slip that the person they are asking about is gay.
  • Power of Friendship: The team initially believe Cat and Lindsey were BFFs, hinting that they never profiled Cat as gay or bi.
  • Self-Inflicted Hell: Even in her imagination, Cat can't get a decent drink.
  • Taking You with Me: Lindsey means to suicide bomb the BAU, but ends up not going through with it when she finds out Cat betrayed her.
