It's time to end this.
The fight between Ad Astra and Denise Daniels' neo-humans has gone disastrously wrong, with Ad Astra either dead or dying and the neo-humans rampaging. As the team takes an effort to evacuate the city, Denise Daniels is spotted at City Hall, but when they get there, it turns out she has been decapitated.
Tropes:
- Asshole Victim: Oh me, oh my, Denise Daniels got what was coming to her and got it hard.
- Babies Ever After: The last thing we know about Cathy and Alex, is that they are expecting a second child.
- Back for the Finale: Paul Sheppard, Otto Kessel, Izzy Ramsey, and Joe Warren all appear as suspects. And in the AI, we have the return of Jack Archer from Season 3.
- Bittersweet Ending: Grimsbourgh is saved, but it comes at the cost of Rita and many others dying due to Dreamlife's actions. Despite that, the town is rebuilding and ready to move on.
- But Now I Must Go: Someone calls for the player, and they go, leaving the reception. A portal opens up, showing an older Jack Archer explaining that they don't have much time but the player must trust him into jumping in the portal to 10 years in the future, and leave their team behind in the middle of Amir and Jasper's wedding. That's the ending of the game.
- Comically Missing the Point: Izzy wants to lead the neo-humans, seeing them as the saviors of Grimsborough due to the mayor being corrupt and the dome being part of a conspiracy. However, said neo-humans are actually part of the conspiracy.
- Darkest Hour: Let's see here... neo-humans rampaging, the city in chaos, Ad Astra all dead, Jones hospitalized in which the majority of the 3rd chapter is unsure if he will survive...
- Deadly Upgrade: After the plan of sending Ad Astra after the army fails, Amir decides to make a more powerful version of the serum so a user could be even more powerful to deal with the neo-humans. He succeeds, but the effects of the enhanced serum are so great that anyone who takes it will only have little time left to live.
- Exactly Exty Years Ago: After the last event towards the Neohumans, we get a timelapse of 2 weeks, to commemorate the fallen ones, one of them being Rita. Later, the game puts us 5 months later (Regarding Jones' talk) to celebrate Amir and Jasper's wedding.
- Eye Scream: The player and Jones are caught in an explosion midway through the case. At the end of things, it's revealed Jones lost his left eye in the blast.
- Face Death with Dignity: As Martine starts crying about Rita's decision to sacrifice herself, she says this:Rita: I don't make this decision lightly, Martine. I know what I'm sacrificing, and I know what I'm leaving behind.But needs of the many outweighs the needs of the one.We all need to stay strong right now, Martine.
- Facial Horror: When the GCPD retrieves Rozetta and Julia's bodies from the ruins on the dome, Julia's body looks awful, to say the least
. - Failed a Spot Check: Once again, the team fails to notice an obvious murder weapon during the first leg of the investigation, as the machete used to kill Denise (found in the "Beheading Site" crime scene) is found just a few feet in plain sight from where Denise's body was found.note
- Heroic Sacrifice: Rita decides to take the enhanced serum to stop the Neo-Humans, knowing full well the effects will kill her.
- Hive Mind: The neo-humans run on these.
- It Has Been an Honor: Before Rita sacrifices herself, she thanks everyone, telling them she's proud to be part of the GBPD.
- Major Injury Underreaction: Exagerated by the charatcer and downplayed by the game. It's is clearly stated that Jones had a hard time due for the explosion. He was inmediately rushed into surgery, the surgeons weren't sure if he was going ot survive the stay at the Intensive Care Unit, and at many times the team makes it clear that his life hangs on the balance. Just at the Additional Investigation, Cathy informs you that he wakes up, but in several pain. AND YET, he gets to the precint for the final battle, with some injuries (that heal up later on) and he is talking like if nothing happened.
- Off with Her Head!: Denise Daniels was put out of the world's misery by having her head chopped off with a machete.
- One of Our Own: Chief Parker is declared a suspect after her gun is found next to Denise's severed head at City Hall.
- The Patient Has Left the Building: While deciding who will be the person who takes the serum, Jones appears at the location just as the team indicated that he was at the hospital. He is bandaged up, with his usual coat, and still wearing his hospital robe. You can take a guess.
- Power Dyes Your Hair: Rita's hair turns blue after taking the serum.
- Pull the I.V.: Pretty much Implied. The last thing the group knew about Jones, was that the explosion hit him the hardest out of the two, and he was in intensive care, uncertain that he would make it through (and when he woke up, he was in a lot of pain). So there was no way for him to be with them. The next thing we know is that he is in the same building as us, bandaged, still bruised, and nothing more than his hospital gown and his jacket.
- Redemption Equals Death: Played with. Warren tries to volunteer to take the enhanced serum, but at this point he's on death's door and dies before taking it, begging for forgiveness all the while.
- Season Finale: For The Conspiracy.
- Sequel Hook: The season ends with Jack Archer appearing, who explains he's from ten years in the future. He's joined the Temporal Crimes Division, and they need the player's help.
- Shout-Out: The team make temporary shelter in their abandoned 99th precinct.
- Sleeping with the Boss: The team finds a motive for Otto Kessel to have killed Denise when they find out she extorted him to sleep with her. They soon discover he had a much larger reason to have killed her than that.
- Taking You with Me: Rita ultimately explodes, killing all the neo-humans in the process.
- Turned Against Their Masters: Otto is revealed to be a neo-human, and killed his creator to run her army himself.
- Villainous Incest: Denise's Sleeping with the Boss moment above gets really creepy in hindsight when you remember that the neo-humans are made from her DNA...
- Wham Shot: Otto revealing himself to be a neo-human.
- "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Five months later, we get an update on how Grimsbourough is doing now:
- A memorial is set up in Rita's honor.
- Christine Ramsgate is now in charge of SARA, while Carter hopes to join their space camp.
- Jones had gotten used to living with one eye.
- Martine now takes care of Rita's dog, Hector.
- Cathy and Alex are expecting a second kid.
- Jasper and Amir get married, with Ramirez officiating.
- Gabriel will be going on a Roman Holiday with Sofia soon.
