Care to do some shopping while investigating a murder?

A woman named Lucy Campbell is found murdered on her own fashion store at a mall.

Tropes:

  • Attention Whore: The reason why Odell murdered Lucy was because he wanted to be noticed and known.
Odell: Now people are finally going to know my name! No one's going to ignore me anymore!
  • Call-Back: Biff Wellington reappears, with Jones mentioning the events of Case 8 along with it.
  • Captured on Purpose: The killer reported the body, left clues scattered on purpose, and even redirected you to a crime scene just so you could get enough clues to arrest him.
Jones: I'm starting to think this killer actually WANTS to get caught. Bloody glove on the crime scene? Seriously?

Odell: Finally! I thought you guys would never put two and two together.
Jones: Are you telling us you were WAITING to be arrested?
Odell: Of course. It's not like I didn't help you, too!
  • Casanova Wannabe: Joey, according to Nina.
Nina: He spent the night using my waitresses' notepads to give his number to women!
  • Dead Guy on Display: The victim is literally left on display inside her own shop.
  • Fat Bastard: Odell Toole is the heaviest character to appear in Grimsborough, weighting 298 lbs. He also turns out to be the killer, murdering Lucy just because he wanted to be known for something.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: The killer deliberately sought to invoke this, since he wanted to be remembered as more than just an ordinary guy.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The victim was impaled on a mannequin stand inside her own shop. Fortunately, she was already dead before this happened.
  • Improvised Weapon: The victim was strangled to death with a hanger of all things.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Both Lucy and her girlfriend Kim were this.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Nina Hunt resembles Miranda Priestly.
    • In the Counter scene, Grumpy Cat is seen.
    • Mario's trade mark cap (albeit with an upside-down T instead of an M) and mushroom can be found in the Mall's main hall and escalator along with a green pipe, brick block, and a princess crown.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Joey Manzano just can't stop throwing Cluster F-Bombs every time you speak to him.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Subverted. The killer turns out to be the same person who reported the body, but it's because he wanted to get caught in the first place.
