Meet your leaders.

The Airport is the sixth and final district investigated in Criminal Case: Grimsborough.

A fairly rustic area in the outskirts of Grimsborough, the Airport, apart from a terminal, also contains a harbor, a lighthouse, some historical museums, a prison, and a Native American settlement from the Aloki people. The district mainly focuses on uncovering the truth behind Adam Bentley's murder at the hands of Chief King and his subsequent suicide in the previous district, where you soon learn the involvement of an Ancient Conspiracy that has been controlling Grimsborough from the shadows for centuries.

    Cases Set in the Airport
  1. A Brave New World: An investigator has his throat slashed and his tongue pulled out of it near a lighthouse.
  2. Burying the Hatchet: A social worker has her hands cut off in a Native American settlement.
  3. The Poisoned Truth: A history novelist is shot with a poisoned dart inside the pilgrim museum.
  4. Ashes to Ashes: An escaped convict is burned at the stake on a nautical museum.
  5. There Will Be Blood: An Aloki Indian has his scalp flayed off and left as a warning in a forest.

Tropes:

  • Ancient Conspiracy: The main focus of the district is putting an end to the Crimson Order, a secret society that has been active for at least 400 years and controlling all of Grimsborough ever since the original founders slaughtered almost all of the native people.
  • Arc Villain: Milton Grimmes, the leader of the Ancient Conspiracy known as the Crimson Order that has been controlling Grimsborough from the shadows for centuries, effectively making him the Big Bad of the season. His ancestor, Solomon Grimmes, also serves as the main villain of the flashback segments, being the original founder of the Crimson Order and the one who killed all of the Aloki people to steal their gold.
  • Bittersweet Ending: You manage to put a stop to the Crimson Order after their centuries-long reign of terror in Grimsborough and also give the Aloki people their lands back. However, many of the friends and allies you made throughout the game, such as Rachel, Margaret, Madison, King, or Howard, are either dead or incarcerated, and you decide to join the Pacific Bay Police Force, leaving Grimsborough and your remaining friends behind. At least they're happy with your decision though.
  • He Knows Too Much: A recurring theme during this district is that almost all of the victims are killed due to having some sort of information about the Crimson Order. We also learn that Adam Bentley was murdered for this exact reason, as King was ordered to execute him after he stumbled onto the Order's gold mine.
  • Identical Grandson: During the Mental Time Travel sequences, we are introduced to several minor characters who were involved in the Crimson Order's activities during their first establishment 400 years ago, and most of them look exactly the same as their descendants but with differing outfits. For example, one of the suspects, Kirk De Haan, is just a modern version of his ancestor, Geert De Haan, in a suit and cowboy hat.
  • Injun Country: This district introduces you to the Aloki people, the original inhabitants of Grimsborough who, after their ancestors were slaughtered by the pilgrims and the Crimson Order to steal their gold, have been relegated to live in poor conditions inside a reserve. One of your main objectives during the Airport is avenging and giving them their lands back.
  • Mental Time Travel: Once an Episode during this district the player and Jones use the power of storytelling and imagination, as well as some "Aloki magic", to visit certain events in the past that somehow tie into the case and the overall plot of the district.
  • Origins Episode: The Airport serves as one for the posthumous Chief King, detailing how him and his family got involved with the Crimson Order and the events that led to his suicide.
  • Out of Focus: Apart from Jones, every member of your team gets mostly relegated to the background (i.e. the lab) for the duration of the district, lacking any kind of subplots or focus until the finale where Ramirez, Alex, and Nathan gain a little bit of prominence and the whole department organizes a surprise party for you.
  • Recurring Character: The recurring characters for this district are Milton Grimmes, Anakee, and to a lesser extent Ashton Cooper and Delsin Peota. There's also Solomon Grimmes and Inaya, though they only appear during flashback sequences set in the past.
  • Season Finale: For Grimsborough.
  • Town with a Dark Secret: You discover that a notorious secret society called the Crimson Order has been controlling Grimsborough for centuries with help of their illicit gold mining, which they acquired after the original founders slaughtered the native people to steal their mine.
