Go To

The episode begins with Janice having trouble solving a rubiks cube-type puzzle, when she narrowly avoids getting run into by Josh, who is trying out his new roller skates. She asks if she can borrow them later, but he refuses. He leaves, only to collide with Victoria and Elvira. Janice discovers that Elvira is trying to use a love spell she read in a book to try to win Toby's heart, and Janice questions the girls believing in such superstition. Elliot shows up, and Janice shows the book to him. To her surprise, Elliot admits that he carries around a lucky charm to protect himself, having learned from staying at Creep School to take nothing for granted. Janice is not convinced, and goes to finish her schoolwork, with the others pointing out tomorrow is a day off for Friday the 13th.

Janice ends up borrowing Josh's skates without his permission, and ends up acccidentally breaking them when she bumps into Principal Malcolm. She finds that Malcolm also carries around a rabbit's foot for good luck, suggesting Janice do the same to prepare for tomorrow. Janice tries fixing the skates and returning them to Josh's room without him finding out. As Victoria hangs up a horse shoe in their room in preparation of Friday the 13th, Janice continues to insist that there's no such thing as bad luck.

The next day, the other students are anxious over it being Friday the 13th. When Josh falls due to one of the wheels on his skates falling off, Elsa suggests he shouldn't have used them on Friday the 13th. Josh believes she's right, while Janice suggests there's another explanation, without admitting she broke the skates. Janice continues to express disbelief at the other students' superstition, and wonders if there's any way to show them there's nothing to worry about. A black cat observes from near a window.

During lunch, Janice deliberately opens an umbrella indoors to try to prove their superstitions wrong, but fails to convince them when she chokes on her lunch. Elliot helps her, but she insists it was only a coincidence. Throughout the day, Janice continues to act in ways that are said to cause bad luck to try to prove that there's no such thing as bad luck, but nothing seems to convince them, not helped by Janice getting into trouble. After getting put on cleaning duty, Janice comes across Malcolm, and notes the book he's reading about Pandora's Puzzle and other mysterious. Malcolm explains that Pandora's Puzzle is an infamous puzzle kept in the school, and the mother of all superstition. He explains that it is said that anyone who puts together the puzzle, consisting of thirteen pieces, will be scattered into thirteen pieces themselves. Janice decides to go take a look, figuring she might be able to prove her point.

Janice goes to where the puzzle is kept, and begins to put it together while the black cat watches. Janice puts the puzzle together, and at first, nothing happens. Janice believes she now has proof, but then the puzzle begins to change, turning into a mirror, before pulling Janice into it. The pieces of the puzzle scatter and run off. Janice finds herself trapped in a strange place, along with the black cat. As Janice looks for a way out, the cat tells her she won't find the way out that easily. Janice asks the cat if she knows anything, and cat admits it might know something.

Janice can see what is going on through the mirrors in the school, and tries to get her friends' attention, but they can't hear her. She asks the cat again, but the cat won't tell her. Needing another player for their card game, the other kids go look for Janice. They search the basement, until they find Pandora's Puzzle, with an image of the trapped Janice on it. They alert the teachers, and Malcolm has everyone begin searching for the pieces of the puzzle so they can help Janice escape.

The kids begin searching for the puzzle pieces, with the cat explaining this is necessary for Janice to escape. Janice tries to help point out the location of some of the pieces to the others, but the cat reminds her they still can't hear her. When a piece enters room 13, Josh and Victoria hesitate to enter due to superstition. Janice realizes the cat isn't really a cat, and asks who she really is. The cat reveals that she's the Spirit of Superstition, and she believes she's doing everyone a favor by making them believe they can control their fate. Janice then points out to the spirit that Josh is opening the door, being willing to take the risk and overcome his superstition in order to help Janice.

The other students overcome their superstitions in search for the puzzle pieces, while the spirit tries to negogiate with Janice, telling her there's no harm in believing in a little good fortune. Soon, twelve of the pieces are found, but no one can seem to find the last one. Janice realizes that the spirit has it, and the cat offers a deal. She'll let Janice go if she plays along with superstitions just once in a while, and whispers another piece of info to Janice. Janice accepts the deal, and the final puzzle piece allows itself to be found. The puzzle is completed, and Janice is freed.

Janice finally solves the puzzle she was struggling with before, admitting to Elliot that a friend taught her how to solve it. The others tell Janice she was right, but Janice states that she's realized that a little superstition doesn't do any harm. Janice returns Josh's skates, telling her she fixed them properly this time. Josh questions what she's talking about, and Janice says she'll explain once his ankle is better while petting a certain black cat.
