Air Date: 8/12/2022

With the abolishment of the Lockheart clan, Colonel Cardiock is left facing some difficult questions of his own about his Bloodhunter corps and his challenge. As Passione presses him on his decisions, they begin realizing the identity of his wife—and Asole's mother—and it's not anyone who they could've expected.

Tropes Found in This Episode:

  • It's All My Fault: Because the Lockhearts were the most prominent supporters and practitioners of its skills, Cardiock feels like the Bloodhunter Corps—along with the class itself—is tainted by their legacy of corruption. However, he himself feels immense guilt for having facilitated their misdeeds, as he is the head of the Corps and remained ignorant of what the family had been doing for many years. Thus, despite Passione's protests, he abolishes his Corps to coincide with the outlawing of the Bloodhunter class; unsure of what to do with himself, he departs to the fae realm in search of his long-lost wife.
  • Shout-Out: 8purplekirbies breaks out into a parody of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air's theme in response to the reveal of Asole and Don Matriarchy's relationship, giving the episode its title.
  • Wham Line: Just as Cardiock departs into the fae realm, Benedict namedrops his wife, whose identity leaves Osra facing an ethical crisis. It's the very person she's been after to kill and reverse her family's curse, and now, she must break the news to her son, Asole.
    Benedict: *Sigh*... Matriarchy.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Throughout the Hemoarloch arc, Cardiock proves to be the single most reliable and trustworthy authority figure that Passione turns to, proving time and time again just how dedicated he is to his country and its people. This makes it sting badly for the party when they learn Don Matriarchy is his wife, and Cardiock inadvertently caused Osra's father's death by directing him to the Don for a devilish deal.
