Passione initiates and manages the election for Lordpact's new champion. By discussing the issue with the town's various populaces, they hope that the event results in a tie between the two candidates, allowing both to be champions in the same city. No matter the outcome, Passione's next challenge is just around the corner.
Tropes Found in This Episode:
- Election Day Episode: This episode sees Passione (sans Ash) follow up on their Lordpact election plans in "Precarious Politics." They split up to tackle different demographics based on how their respective backgrounds could help them relate to them. Because they both hail from wealthy families, Calum and Ophelia go talk with the upper classes. Osra and Cera tackle the lower classes based on a similar principle, with the added bonus of Osra's race and tiefling curse making her more relatable for the orcs and tiefling populations therein.
- Insane Troll Logic: Despite vying for more power in the city, the small goblin population in Lordpact doesn't understand how elections work. Apparently, this has remained true even outside of these special circumstances; they keep touting one of their own as the city's new champion at any given moment, assuming people will automatically accept the change based on their words alone. The candidate that that chose—and assert to Passione in this session—is Biscuit, a Goblin with no political experience but can cook really good cookies.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When she has the opportunity, Osra approaches Helena about her history as an Undercove gangster, hoping to find out more information about Don Matriarchy. Upon hearing Matriarchy's name, Helena's heart seems to stop, her gruff demeaner giving way to explicit fear as she urges Osra to speak of the matter in hushed tones. Upon learning about Osra's father's history with the Undercove mafia, Helena offers a genuine apology to Osra for what the Don has brought upon her and her family.
- Shout-Out: The Lordpact challenge turns out to be formatted exactly like Deal or No Deal, a detail that's hinted at by the episode's title. The goal is to end the challenge with a set amount of gold, with the challengers accumulating wealth via various sets of chests containing varying amounts of diamonds without knowing the exact amount in each. Any chest not chosen will be opened up to reveal its contents, upon which it bursts into flames, never to be chosen again. Periodically, either Helena or Angelo offers a deal for the challengers to stop chosing chests and accept a guaranteed amount of gold.
- Written-In Absence: While she still plays a part in The Champion's Challenge, BlazeTheWeirdo was unable to make it to this episode's session, leaving Ash unable to participate in this episode's events. To make up for Ash's absence, Crafty explains that she's doing some intense studying in the Lordpact libraries, and she'll have some information to give to the party when she returns.
