Hank and Win Butler of Arcade Fire, in an (imaginary) arcade fire

A Plot: Karen accuses Davis of forgetting her birthday, but Davis claims he's actually setting up an epic party for her...which is a lie, so he asks Lacey, Wanda, and Hank to help. While Davis tries to get alcohol and guests by apprehending drinkers, picnickers, and loiterers, he lets Hank handle decorations...but Hank decides to also prepare a fun prank involving pink flamingos.

B Plot: While trying to get food for the party, Wanda is kicked off of the local kitchen committee, and encourages Lacey to show them up by preparing all of the food. However, they both end up struggling, because Lacey keeps getting interrupted by the vengeful committee and Wanda doesn't know many recipes.

C Plot: Oscar has accidentally flooded the basement and doesn't want Emma finding out. When she does, Oscar's outraged that she already protected the "good" stuff from water damage and let most of his old gifts for her get soaked...but when plotting revenge, he can't bring himself to damage any of the gifts he's received from Emma.

D Plot: Brent's called by Oscar to help with his emergency, and he asks an off-duty Karen to stand in for him at Corner Gas. After failing to help Oscar cover his mistakes, Brent learns that the kitchen committee won't be making perogies for Karen's party. He tries his best to cook some himself, and has some mishaps in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Karen struggles to keep Corner Gas running, not helped by the fact that she wanted to have the day off.

  • Birthday Party Goes Wrong: Aside from the food selection being incredibly limited, Hank brings live geese to Karen's party, which end up attacking all the guests (including the food committee and someone outraged with a fine Davis gave him when confiscating his alcohol). But considering the party was otherwise quite lame, Karen actually has a blast, even if the other guests don't.
  • The Cameo: In Davis' Imagine Spot of the perfect party for Karen, Arcade Fire is playing orchestral music. Hank later has his own Imagine Spot involving the lead singer, taking place in a literal fire at an arcade.
  • Description Cut: At one point, Davis and Hank are on the phone right after the latter has set up the venue for Karen's party. Davis tells Hank he can add whatever final touches he wants, as long as it's not too yellow, which is Karen's least favorite color...and then it reveals that, of course, literally all of the decorations currently set up are yellow.
  • Imagine Spot: Davis and Hank each have one involving Arcade Fire.
  • Literal-Minded: Hank, throughout the episode (see The Cameo and Practical Joke).
  • My New Gift Is Lame: Emma's gifts from Oscar aren't considered worth saving, mostly because they're tacky and came from either thrift stores or Corner Gas. When Oscar tries to make it up to her, his plans include giving her the same type of flowers she's growing in her garden, and cooking dinner when there's going to be free food at Karen's party.
  • Practical Joke: Davis says he wishes he remembered Karen's birthday earlier, so he could have just pranked her by leaving a bunch of pink flamingos on her lawn for her birthday. Hank decides to run with this idea and wants to bring a bunch of flamingos to the party...but he interprets it as live flamingos, rather than lawn ornaments. He only learns the truth after settling for a bunch of live geese and unleashing them on the party guests.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: The B Plot ends with Wanda only able to make peanut butter sandwiches, but Lacey was successful in making Karen's favorite desert, coconut macaroons...except that Karen's allergic to coconut. Plus, her actual favorite dessert is macarons, which Davis had thought was the same thing, just pronounced sillier.
  • Shout-Out: The episode's title is a pun on "Pink Floyd".
  • Skewed Priorities: At the end of the episode, Brent doesn't mind that Karen didn't lock up the store, since the town doesn't have many hoodlums...but when she admits she left a shipment of bricks just lying outside, Brent panics and leaves in a rush.
