Recap / A Knight's Wisdom

Go To

Terra Firma has long struggled with her Giant nature—the urge to dominate those smaller and weaker; seeing “Tiny” Ponies as lessers to do with as she pleases, is always in the back of her mind even in her heroics. When terrorists attack a peace summit, she's driven into a rage and, just for a moment, loses herself to battle—and barely avoids giving into her Giant instincts entirely. Left distraught, doubting if she can–or should–continue her heroics, Terra Firma feels lost.

An encounter with fellow Giant heroine Dame Delightful Clarity gives her a chance to confront the internal struggles their altered natures and alter-egos bring about.

Tropes:

  • Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene: Most of the story is Terra Firma and Delightful Clarity's conversation, taking place after an intense battle. Any action we see comes in flashbacks.
  • Becoming the Mask: What Terra Firma fears is happening. She got lost in a haze of battle-lust, only to come to looming over an enemy medical tent with a cowering, begging nurse within...and her mouth watering. This left her understandably horrified.
    • Her conversation with Delightful Clarity, who did embrace her Giant nature, is ultimately what eases Terra's mind. Delightful is still a moral, upstanding Pony who wants to help people and fight evil, even if she indulges her domineering impulses.
Tera Firma: "...Gianthood is PART of who you are, not ALL you are. You are still YOU, even if something was different.”
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Once Delightful joined in against the terrorists, what little hope they had was gone.
  • Eaten Alive: The fate of two terrorist helicopter pilots (and in the past, a traitorous Duke), courtesy of Delightful Clarity.
  • Mook Horror Show: The terrorists are basically ants to Delightful: she cleaves a giant robot in two, squishes and incinerates dozens of soldiers in seconds, and eats two pilots, all without breaking a sweat.
  • Old Shame: It turns out that even Delightful had to keep her Giant urges in check—even innocents and allies triggered them, much to the knightess's shame.
  • Warhawk: The terrorists, to a horrid degree. When several nations agreed to a ceasefire in their ongoing war, many soldiers went rogue and attacked the peace summit to sabotage negotiations.
