Recap / Code Prime - R2: Revolution, 21 "Broken Walls"

Go To

Arriving at the Great Wall of China, the Aerialbots and the Black Dragon Unit work to retrieve the Iacon Relic there. But with Onslaught and the Combaticons being in the area as their opposition, they might be in for the fight of their lives.

  • Adapted Out: The Red Energon is destroyed by Urabe. However, it is revealed at the end of the chapter that only a small fragment was able to survive and was recovered by the Decepticons.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Ultimately, the Combaticons managed to salvage the remains of the Red Energon.
  • Batman Gambit: Jetstorm and Safeguard come up with this to save Drift, Xingke, and Tohdoh and obtaining the relic:
    • First, they let the Vehicon miners unearth the relic.
    • Secondly, the Aerialbots and the rest of the Black Dragon Unit launch a surprise attack at two fronts, taking advantage of the Combaticons' Fatal Flaws (namely Brawl's Blood Knight tendencies and Blast Off's love for speed) to prevent them from combining into Bruticus.
    • Phase Three has Jetstorm and Safeguard rescue their comrades while Zhou and Hong Gu secure the Zangetsu and Shen Hu (which are held in a separate location).
    • Final part involves the Knightmares being delivered, then they move in to secure the relic. If it was a weapon, it can be used against the enemy, but if not, they'll have to retreat. Of course, Onslaught figures out the plan later on, and he and the Combaticons combine anyway.
  • Character Death:
    • Air Raid gets totaled by Blast Off.
    • Zi Dien gets sliced up by Bruticus.
    • Urabe sacrifices himself to destroy the chunk of Red Energon in Bruticus' servos.
  • Divide and Conquer: When Drift, Xingke, and Tohdoh get captured, Jetstorm and Safeguard come up with a plan to rescue them and secure the relic, and part of the plan involves splitting up the Combaticons to prevent them from combining. Of course, Onslaught catches wind of their plan...
  • Go Out with a Smile: Urabe does this as he and his Akatsuki go out in a massive explosion.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Urabe sacrifices himself to destroy the Red Energon in order to ensure that Bruticus doesn't take it. It ends up being played with though since a few shards of Red Energon survived and were recovered by the Decepticons while Vortex was being repaired, but given how there is barely enough for a single dose, his sacrifice was ultimately not in vain.
  • It Has Been an Honor: Before Urabe makes his final stand against Bruticus, he tells Tohdoh this:
Urabe: Colonel... Tell Prime and Zero, it's been an honor serving with them. And an even greater honor to serve under you.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Regardless of the fact that they're the good guys, casualties can occur on the Black Knights and the Autobots too. They are in a war after all. Senba even says this himself.
Senba: This is war, and casualties are inevitable. Even those among our own side, as well as those closest to us.
