Go To

Tyrone is faced with a hard decision when presented with an opportunity to clear his name from an unlikely source. Meanwhile, Tandy is letting her anger get the best of her as she becomes frustrated with a possible dead end to her investigation into the sex trafficking ring.

  • The Alcoholic: Tandy's mom has been falling back into drinking.
  • Ambiguously Evil: Throughout the episode it's made deliberately unclear whether Connors has genuinely had a change of heart or if it's all an act, particularly with Tandy narrating the parable of The Farmer and the Viper. The ending shows that Connors really is sincere in his change of heart, with Lia instead being the Viper. Connors's greatest fear is him putting cuffs on his wrists, only for them to fall off, that he won't be punished as he deserves.
  • The Atoner: Connors, surprisingly, has had a change of heart during his time in the Darkforce Dimension and wants to help Tyrone clear his name by getting the proof from his uncle.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Connors isn't the viper - Lia is!
  • Berserk Button: Tyrone's dad loses it when he first sees Connors.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Lia, the seemingly friendly and empathic therapist, is part of the human trafficking ring.
  • Blue Blood: Connors's family has been around for a very long time, in fact his great-great grandfather was a founding member of the Promenade Society.
  • Crocodile Tears: Lia's sob story about her ex-boyfriend is called into question once her true allegiance is revealed.
  • Death Seeker: When Tyrone is on the brink of killing Connors, thinking the latter betrayed him, Connors tearfully tells him to get it over with, having been sincere about his desire to atone for his sins.
  • The Farmer and the Viper: Throughout the episode, Tandy retells this story, and it initially seems that she is referring to Tyrone and Conners respectively, but in the ending it is revealed that the story applies to her and Lia.
  • Frame-Up: It's shown how exactly Connors framed Tyrone for Fuchs's murder — he sawed off the piece of railing Tyrone touched when running away from him and used it to beat Fuchs to death.
  • The Heist: Tyrone breaks into a club to which Connors's uncle is a member in to get the proof that can exonerate him, with Brigid helping him as a distraction. Unfortunately, the proof is gone once they get there.
  • Let Me Tell You a Story: Tandy recites the story of The Farmer and the Viper as a parable for the episode. In the end it is shown that it's part of her dream sequence.
  • No Sympathy: Tandy doesn't buy any of the excuses her mother gives her for not leaving her abusive husband.
  • Out-Gambitted: Tandy tried to get close with Lia, finding common ground by making Tyrone look like her abusive ex. She did so because she thought that Lia's ex-boyfriend could know something about the missing girls. Instead, Lia stabs Tandy in the back and has her abducted, as she is the one who is providing the human traffickers.
  • The Reveal: Lia, the therapist, has been providing the human traffickers with girls.
  • Spotting the Thread: When meeting with Tandy, Tyrone immediately spots Lia watching the pair.
  • Wham Shot: Lia electrocuting Tandy, resulting in her abduction by the human traffickers.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Tyrone is not happy about being used by Tandy to look like an abusive ex-boyfriend.
