- Failure Hero: Both Tandy and Tyrone are faced with the fact that they don't really seem to make a difference despite their powers and best intentions.
- Fake Out Makeout: While in the hospital, Evita kisses Tyrone to keep two cops from recognizing him.

- While drowning her sorrows, Brigid only handles her drinks with her left hand. She was right handed.
- When Tandy looks at Makayla's hopes, the sound track is the end of a record, with the needle clicking as it hits the end of the track.
- How We Got Here: The episode keeps changing between the present and little flashbacks.
- Internal Reveal: Evita learns about Tyrone's powers and is pissed that he didn't use them to visit her.
- Missing White Woman Syndrome: When Tandy sees the posters of various brown girls who have recently gone missing and wonders why there's no one reporting about this, she is told to her face that if she, a pretty white girl, where to go missing it would be all over the news, but nobody cares about some poor brown girls.
- Power Incontinence: Tandy keeps accidentally destroying things. Her hallucinating her father isn't helping it.
- The Reveal: Mayhem is a Literal Split Personality.
- Slashed Throat: How Mayhem kills the driver who transported the drugged Mikayla and the other girls missing.
- Wham Shot: Brigid being Bound and Gagged in her place, despite supposedly investigating the missing girls with Tandy.
- What the Hell, Hero?:
- Brigid chews out Tandy and especially Tyrone for getting involved again.
- Evita is pissed with Tyrone for not getting in touch with her for 8 months, especially when she finds out that he could have teleported to her anytime.
