Recap / Centaurworld S2E3: My Tummy, Your Hurts

Go To

Horse tries to enlist the fierce Coldtaurs in her battle - but they capture Glendale! Back in the human world, Waterbaby sends a message to Rider.

This episode contains examples of:

  • A-Team Montage: When the herd is crushing ice to separate themselves from the coldtaurs, each character approaches the task utilizing their strengths - Durpleton is seen hammering ice with his head, and Wammawink uses her knitting needles. The scene is even set to a tune similar to The A-Team theme.
  • Call-Back: Breathing in a bag and starting a support group get performed and mentioned by Glendale in early Season one episodes "Hello Rainbow Road" and "The Key", respectively.
  • The Cloud Cuckoolander Was Right: Glendale, despite being one of the wackier members of the herd, manages to figure out why the Coldtaurs really want to join the Nowhere King (their crippling anxiety), and manages to help them out and get them to join the right side via teaching them how to breath into paper bags when they panic.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Wammawink preparing a snowcone on the side brings into mind a mother with a drinking problem.
  • Easy Listening: Smooth jazz music plays when the herd swims across the water atop Horse's block of ice, accentuating the awkward waiting moment before they get to the other side.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The smudged handwriting on Comfortable Doug's hand is a recipe for minced meat that has nothing to do with the message he's relating to Rider.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Durpleton's eyes light up sinisterly when he's about to drop Horse from the stratosphere.
  • Harmless Freezing: Being frozen in a block of ice immobilizes Horse, only allowing her to desperately emote with her eyes, but doesn't cause her any real harm.
  • Hope Spot: The coldtaurs are willing to join the war... but they support the Nowhere King's side.
  • Instant Ice: Just Add Cold!:
    • The coldtaurs lament that their homeland is so cold, ice cubes start to form in their soup before they start eating.
    • Later, Horse falls into water and is turned into a block of ice. The rest of the herd uses her as a boat to get to the other shore.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Glendale's stage persona - the clothes, messy bun and deep voice - resembles Elizabeth Holmes.
  • Rimshot: Ched's stand-up comedy jokes are punctuated by percussion.
  • Shout-Out: Waterbaby throws the rutabagataur like a Poké Ball. Even the accompanying music resembles Pokémon games soundtrack.
  • A Twinkle in the Sky: Comfortable Doug disappears in the sky in a flash of light after being kicked by Becky Apples.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The herd's adventure with Coldtaurs is intertwined with Waterbaby's attempts at escaping prison and warning Rider.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: Even though Wammawink doesn't normally seem to be using makeup, her mascara gets ruined when she's emotionally defending herself from accusations of abandoning Glendale again.
