Annette and Edouard introduce themselves, get to know the Renard household and set out to scout out the Chateau.
- Face–Monster Turn: Edouard has died and come back as a night creature by the end of the episode.
- Foreshadowing : An odd and interesting case when the Abbot and Drolta first met. She thought the Abbot assumed that they were flirting, and ironically says that men only think about sex. However, it's not clear if the Abbot actually assumed they were flirting.
- If she is right, it is a clue that the Abbot is not as devoted to his vow of celibacy as he gives the impression, and therefore that he has already broken it and had a daughter.
- If she is wrong, it is an indication that she sees humans primarily through their erotic impulses, and therefore an indication that she is not a normal vampire, but a succubus, or at least a vampire who has many traits in common with this demon.
- Pink Boy, Blue Girl: It's not as obvious as some examples, but its already apparent that Edouard is more emotionally open and empathic of the duo of him and Annette, with his primary skill being singing. Annette, meanwhile, is more stoic and specializes in fighting with swords.
- Rewatch Bonus: Edouard sings a funeral song, then ten minutes later in the episode, he dies. Then two minutes after that he's back again. And it's a very different experience when you already know all of that and everything else.
