Castle and Beckett enter the world of reality shows after a popular star is found murdered.
- Big "WHAT?!": Gates and Castle let out one when they learn Bob and Hannah's affair wasn't real.
- Commonality Connection: Stone and Hannah's relationship started over their shared problem of being forced into roles that were against who they actually are for the sake of the TV show.
- Ironic Echo: After Ashley is arrested, Castle notes she followed the show's motto to a t: "Don't let anyone stop you from getting what you want."
- Not So Above It All: It turns out the usually stoic Gates is a huge fan of The Wives of Wall Street and squees whenever she talks about it. After Castle becomes a fan from a night of watching it, he spends time with Gates discussing it with her.
- Oh, Crap!: Castle has an epic one when he realizes he accidentally left his Valentine's Day gift in Gates' jacket instead of Beckett's.
- Publicity Stunt Relationship: Turns out Hannah's affair was faked to drum up interest after Stone and Ashley's engagement (which also was faked) was causing Penelope to lose popularity.
- Right for the Wrong Reasons: Castle had gotten a Valentine's Day gift for Beckett, but left it in Gates' jacket by mistake. Thankfully, when Gates eventually finds it, she thinks it was a Valentine's Day gift for her, not Beckett.
- Show Within a Show: The Wives Of Wall Street.
- Yandere: The killer turns out to be Ashley who murdered Hannah for being in a relationship with her (fake) fiancé.
