"Jamalot" is the 10th episode of Season 2, and the 33rd one overall. It originally aired November 30, 2005.

Synopsis:

A member of the female roller derby team "Manhattan Minx" dies at the bottom of a pileup during a match. A dead writer is found in a dumpster with the words to the last chapter of his latest novel written all over his body in invisible ink.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Carpet-Rolled Corpse: The second victim is found wrapped up in an expensive rug inside a dumpster.
  • Fanservice: The members of the opposing roller derby teams are shown in their skimpy uniforms. The Minxes are also shown in a photo shoot for a pin-up calendar.
  • Human Notepad: The body of victim in the second case has words written all over it. Danny finds "The End." on one pinkie toe, and correctly surmises that the text is part of a book.
  • Ignore the Fanservice: Mac does a great job of this, as one of the dead woman's teammates is not the least bit shy about having the hots for him. When he mentions that the team's clothes are needed as evidence, she immediately rips off her top, thrusts a hip at him, and asks him to help her off with her skirt. He passes the task of collection on to Lindsay and leaves the room.
  • Invisible Writing: Not only are the words on the man's body written in invisible ink, the walls of the room in which he was killed are found to be covered with them as well. Danny & Sheldon use an ALS (Alternate Light Source) to reveal them.
  • Madness Mantra: When given a legal pad to write out his statement, the perp in the second case writes nothing but "He plagiarized me" over and over.
  • New York Is Only Manhattan: Invoked by the owner of the Manhattan Minx:
New York isn't Queens or the Bronx; it's Manhattan!
  • Room Full of Crazy: The words on the writer's body are also found written all over the walls of the room in which he was killed.
  • Title Drop: The team's manager comes up with a promotion referring to them as "The Kingdom of Jamalot."
