Recap / Burn Notice S 3 E 10 A Dark Road

Go To

Whoever Strickler was working with has been expecting Michael. And he's left a firebomb in his hotel room as a way of saying hello. Michael also picks up a client through Fiona, helping a widow with an insurance scam.

  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: After the Suddenly Shouting below, Michael explains that it's not about the money. "People come to me. They need my help."
  • Cool Car: Michael uses the Charger to apply for a job with "precision driving". Look, the Charger looks and sounds amazing, but a 1973 Dodge Charger would be terrible for that. Its engine was powerful then, but not now. Functionally, it's a big, slow, heavy car that may or may not have power steering (probably not, since it lacks air conditioning and Frank was a cheap asshole).
  • I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine: Cagney & Lacey are back together for an episode!
  • Like Father, Like Son: Maddie demonstrates that she learned some serious chops dealing with Frank Weston for years... and that's where Michael got his start as well.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "YOU THINK I DO THIS FOR THE MONEY?!"
  • Truth in Television: While it's kind of ridiculous to think of two Ford sedans and a '73 Dodge Charger boxing in a modern Corvette piloted by an expert driver, the truth is that if the Charger did manage to nail the Corvette with a solid hit to the rear, it would entirely destabilize it, as the modern Corvette would be much lighter, the chassis would warp, and the front wheels would lift off the road for a moment (rear wheel drive, but, y'know, steering, and also a collision), causing the car to momentarily be out of control even for an expert. Hence car go crash.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Maddie rips Michael a new one for asking her to blackmail her new friend Tina (Tyne Daley) in order to get the medical records necessary to take down the bad guys.
