Tropes present in the episode:

  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Averted. Lauren sustains a black eye after being hit with a breast implant. However, that doesn't stop Harry from engaging in an impromptu make-out session with her.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Marilyn agrees the student's implants will "certainly get you noticed."
  • Call-Back: Sheryl references Steven locker-slamming Malcolm White in the pilot episode.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Scott says this to George and then Steven.
  • Everything Is Racist: Sandra Henderson accuses Lauren of discriminating against Webster. Lauren lets the student who accidentally harmed her, who happens to be White, go scot-free. In contrast, Webster, who spat on her in the previous episode, was suspended. Steven notes that Lauren is harsher on her Black students and tells her he's only asking because Superintendent Shinn will likely use these incidents against her. Lauren isn't pleased with the apparent accusations.
  • Get Out!: Scott demands this of George after chewing him out for setting him up with a call girl.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Marsha, Scott's prospective girlfriend. Steven takes notice of her when she comes to visit Scott.
  • Naked People Are Funny: The students hold the annual "Nude Olympics," much to Steven and Scott's dismay. It serves as a Running Gag through the episode.
  • Suddenly Shouting:
George: Scott, I know what's it like to be lonely.
  • This Means War!: Sheryl's response to Steven suspending her for her latest cartoon.
  • Troll: Harry agrees to sponsor a student branch of the National Rifle Association and deliver a speech for a visiting NRA representative. He then launches into a sarcastic speech about gun control, causing the NRA rep to storm out of the meeting.
