This MMBC provides examples of:
- Alternate Universe: Of a sort. It's set in a world where people see in black and white for the most part, but see color upon finding their soulmate, and for the most part it is treated as an alternate universe. However, felled victims from this world are still present in Valhalla (even if through implication) despite this, and some writers imply that the color blindness is merely a genetic quirk.
- Deliberately Monochrome: The majority of the pictures are presented in monochrome to reflect this, with the exception of some murder shots (tinted red) and a Dream Sequence in color.
- Cut Short
- Disability Superpower: Ruya, of the "born blind and hears better" variety. Downplayed in that it still leaves her with disadvantages, especially in a world that relies on vision to prove love, and in that she doesn't get much of a chance to showcase it.
- Face Full of Alien Wing-Wong: Jeremy Ronchi. He gives birth to Phoebe as a result, an MMBC first.
