Recap / Bluey Circus

Go To

Bluey is the ringmaster in a game of circus with her friends, but Hercules wants to play his motorcycle game instead. Luckily, Bluey has a solution to keep everyone happy.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back: Just as Bluey and friends' game of circus is starting, Bingo briefly pauses to get more "popcorn". Mackenzie groans, "Not again," likely referencing what he went through during the events of "Shops".
  • Easily Forgiven: Hercules is accepted into the game (as the "strongman"), even after trying to force the other kids into playing the game he wanted to play.
  • Everybody Has Standards: Hercules may be bully-some for the most part, but when he's brought into Bluey's game, even he thinks Mackenzie's character (the lion tamer) is being rather mean to Honey's character (the lion).
  • Foil: Between Bluey and Hercules. Both are 'ringleaders' in their respective 'circus'. But while Bluey is a natural leader who makes sure that everyone has a voice in her game, Hercules proves to be single-minded and selfish, as he hardly pays Winton any mind when the young bulldog voices he's bored being his "jump".
  • Furry Confusion: When waiting in line to vote, Chili mentions that the candidates need to get the "dogs park issue" sorted out.
  • Furry Reminder: When trying to coerce everyone to play games his way, Hercules lets out a long raspberry, a subtle nod to how St. Bernards salivate more than other dog breeds.
  • Heel–Face Turn: A rather jarring example. Hercules demands Winton play motorbikes with him, but only to be his "jump" and later forces Coco and Bingo do the same, then acts obnoxious and spits when they refuse. But when Bluey ropes him into the circus game and has him deal with Honey and Mackenzie (who are playing a lion and an abusive lion tamer respectively), Hercules correctly deduces Mackenzie was the one being mean (or at least playing so) and spins the smaller boy around so much that Mackenzie can barely stand afterward. Then he happily lets the other have their own motorbikes while Coco and Mackenzie volunteer to be the jumps. It really is that sudden.
  • Puppy Love: Coco is intent on playing Mackenzie's wife in the circus game. When Mackenzie falls down after being spun around by Hercules, Coco lies down next to him to be "jumps" for the motorbikes.
