Recap / Blue Bloods S 1 E 22 The Blue Templar

Go To

Frank choose to bypass the Internal Affairs in order to takedown a secret society of dirty cops after a recent drug raid suggesting that they might be involved.

Tropes that appear in this episode:

  • Became Their Own Antithesis: The Blue Templar was intended to weed out corruption in the NYPD, but over time it became a ring of Dirty Cops.
  • Driven to Suicide: When Sonny Malevsky is caught by Frank, he blows his own brains out.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: When Sonny Malevsky kills himself, it's marked by an offscreen flash, followed by a shot of Malevsky's body falling to the floor and blood on the wall.
  • The Mole: One of the drug dealers murdered early in the episode was a DEA mole.
  • Nothing Personal: When he admits to murdering Joe, Sonny Malevsky says that it was nothing against Joe, it was just that he was getting too close to the truth about the Blue Templar.
  • Properly Paranoid: It turns out that Frank bypassing Internal Affairs was a good call since the Blue Templar had their own mole there, Lt. Alex Bello. Bello is the same man who investigated Jamie in 'Chinatown,' showing Jamie made the right call in lying about Agent Anderson being a random tourist.
  • The Reveal:
    • Sonny Malevsky murdered Joe Reagan.
    • Internal Affairs officer Alex Bello is another member of the Blue Templar.
  • Secret-Keeper: After spending the first 21 episodes trying to investigate Joe's death by himself, Jamie finally choose to involve his family as well.
  • Stop, or I Shoot Myself!: When Sonny reveals himself as the man who murdered Joe, he takes himself hostage and threatens to shoot himself. Frank lets him do it.
