Original airdate: September 10, 2019
Subject: Adaptive traits

Blaze and AJ are racing through the jungle when Blaze gets stuck in super sticky mud while chasing a kite. So, AJ goes on a solo adventure to rally a team of animals to help him get unstuck.

Meanwhile, Crusher encounters Pickle hosting a comedy act and bets he can tell funnier jokes than his with strange results.

Tropes:

  • Animation Bump: Many of the animals have radically changed from last season to become even more realistic-looking. For example, their foreheads no longer have blended windows, the crocodile's head is more rounded, and their eyes are now placed on their bodies instead of protruding headlights. The elephant's ears are also now actually attached to the body instead of being connected to it by poles.
  • Body Wipe: AJ's Chest Insignia fills the whole screen before it dissolves to Pickle's stage.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For AJ. Though he also had this back in "Dragon Island Duel", this is his biggest role ever.
  • Demoted to Extra: Blaze, even more so than "Dragon Island Duel". He is demoted to the sidekick who needs help while AJ takes up his role for the episode.
  • Minimalist Cast: Only Blaze, AJ, Crusher and Pickle are present, along with the various animals. The first and latter two are also the only trucks in the episode.
  • Rule of Three:
    • Three animals joined AJ on his mission to rescue Blaze.
    • AJ had to get past three obstacles before reaching Blaze.
    • It took AJ three tries to swing over the swamp and climb the wall of crystals. The elephant also sprayed the mud balls in three groups.
  • Special Edition Title: The title card is read by AJ instead of Blaze.
