Go To

Big Time Fever is an episode from Season 1 of Big Time Rush.

A heatwave strikes L.A. and soon enough, the members of BTR except Kendall start experiencing "Hollywood Fever" resulting in odd behavior, and Kendall must get them to rediscover their true selves.

Meanwhile, Katie opens an illegal snow cone stand at the pool.

Tropes:

  • Heat Wave: What sets up the conflict for the episode.
  • Insistent Terminology: James isn't orange — he's mangerine.
  • Moose and Maple Syrup: According to Gustavo, after his band Boyquake got Hollywood Fever they quit the music business and moved to Canada to live among the moose.
  • More than Mind Control: Implied to be the case with Hollywood Fever, but obviously seen in Carlos and Logan when they catch it from the Jennifers and Guitar Dude respectively. When the affected boys become part of Kendall's snowball fight in the end, they snap out of it.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: Logan turns into one like Guitar Dude, upon catching Hollywood Fever.
  • Punctuation Changes the Meaning: In the beginning when the boys see Mr. Bitters is the only one in the pool, they discover a sign reading "Adult Swim — No Kids Allowed". Kendall gets around this by altering the sign so it reads, "Adult Swim? No, Kids Allowed!", and thus everyone jumps in the pool.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Carlos falls into this territory when he catches Hollywood Fever while hanging with the Jennifers. He even tried to change the band name to "Carlos and the Rush".
  • Written-In Absence: Jennifer 2 disappears partly through the episode due to taking up a modeling job in Iceland when the heatwave gives her frizzy hair, leaving Carlos to take her place.
