Go To

Nick follows Walter into the Human Resources world and soon meets the man in charge, while Missy finally rids herself of Rochelle.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Hero: Jay speeding down the street while throwing pants at strangers causes a car accident that frees the Ponytail Killer's latest would be victim.
  • Broken Pedestal: Andrew is seen as this to the many monsters in the Hate Department when he declares that he doesn't want to hate anymore and wants to help Nick out.
  • Continuity Nod: Several monsters in the Hate Department mention some of the messed up stuff Andrew has done in the past, like yanking Lars out of his wheelchair or going to a Nazi meeting.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Jay driving his pants car causes numerous accidents. Justified due to the fact that he's a child and shouldn't be driving at all.
  • Flashback: The Shame Wizard shows Jessi Missy's perspective back when Jessi blew her off.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The plate number of the car that has the Ponytail Killer's latest would be victim says "PTKILLA".
  • Gory Discretion Shot: When Andrew, Maury, and Rick go to the Hate Department, one of the monsters there is watching a decapitation on his computer. He blocks the actual part when the head is cut off, and only shows the screen again after it's done.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Both Rochelle and Walter transform into love bugs by the end of the episode.
  • Irony: Adolf Hitler whom despite being notorious for founding the Nazi party and persecuting Jewish people, idolizes Andrew for his bad behavior, despite the latter being Jewish.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Jessi has this reaction after the Shame Wizard shows how her actions kick-started Missy becoming a hateful person.
  • Never My Fault: Nick blames everybody for the misery his hatred has caused over the season. When he gets to the Human Research, he also blames them for all the disastrous matches from the Hormone Monsters. However, Nick Kroll calls him out on blaming others and that he is to blame for all his problems over the course of series.
  • Noodle Incident: After Jay crashes his pants car, he mentions that he's getting better because he didn't fly through the windshield this time.
  • Rage Against the Author: Nick Birch decides to confront the person in charge of Human Resources for giving him such crappy monsters. They turn out to be Nick Kroll, representing the entire writing staff of Big Mouth.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Walter decides that he's had enough of Nick and tries to go back to the Monster World.
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Unreveal: The Ponytail Killer's latest would be victim is about to reveal the Ponytail Killer's identity before he's hit by a car.
  • You Are Not Alone: After Nick realizes how badly he's acted to everyone, he somberly thinks he's all alone. Nick Kroll assures him that is not the case, reminding him how his family loves him unconditionally and that his friends will always be there for him. He then out points how Andrew came to find him in the Resources Department.
