The one where Peri pretends to be Queen Elizabeth I.
An interesting asteroid brings the Doctor and Peri to Elizabethan England, where Christopher Marlowe (stricken with writer's block during the writing of Doctor Faustus) is being haunted by a devilish Spaniard seeking an Aztec dagger.
Originally written by Barbara Clegg, who contributed "Enlightenment" to the series, and also wrote "The Elite", another Lost Story. It is one of the scripts pitched for the original Season 23, but was rejected by Eric Saward.
Tropes:
- Call-Back: Once again, the Doctor would rather not be reminded of the Fire of London.
- In the Style of: The serial is only two forty-five minute episodes, like Season 22, rather than four twenty-minute ones.
- Running Gag: Ol' Sixie gets locked up in the Tower of London - though technically this is the first time for him, followed by "The Marian Conspiracy", "Jubilee" and "The Crimes of Thomas Brewster".
