Recap / Beavis And Butthead S 3 E 23 The Trial

Go To

Beavis and Butt-Head go on trial for throwing eggs at Mr. Anderson's house.

The Trial:

  • Accidental Misnaming: A guard keeps calling the duo "Beatrice and Butt-Brain." Beavis notices, but Butt-Head keeps telling him "shut up, Beatrice!"
  • Ambiguous Gender: Subverted. Beavis is very clearly a boy, but Tom Anderson gets confused about it due to the court mistakenly calling him "Beatrice" and Anderson's very poor vision.
  • Borrowed Catch Phrase: Our heroes are sentenced to 500 hours of community service for egging Tom Anderson's house. They're tasked with showing other juveniles with actual futures how not to be like them. Instead, our heroes get the kids to egg more houses with them. The kids even start imitating our heroes' Character Catchphrase laugh.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Tom Anderson's glasses really don't improve his poor eyesight.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: Butt-Head's argument seems to sway the jury... until the prosecution points out that he mentioned the eggs were rotten, and that never came up in the police report.
  • Notably Quick Deliberation: The jury comes back less than thirty seconds after the judge sends them in to deliberate. Needless to say, they convict our heroes.
  • Oh, Crap!: Stewart is in the audience watching the trial. He reacts this way when Butt-Head points out that he could've been the one who egged Tom Anderson's house.
  • Prison Episode: The episode starts with our heroes in jail as they wait to go on trial in juvenile court.
  • Recognition Failure: Tom Anderson becomes confused over whether Beavis is actually a boy due to people mistakenly calling him "Beatrice" and his extremely poor vision. Butt-Head uses this to try and discredit Anderson's testimony.
  • Smart Ball: Butt-Head grabs it and gives a persuasive testimony, as a result of watching a court show while in prison. Subverted at the end when the prosecutor realizes Butt-Head mentioned that the eggs were rotten, something that was never mentioned either in court or in the police report.
  • Unishment: Our heroes are sentenced to 500 hours of community service, supposedly to teach other kids with actual futures not to be like them. Instead, our heroes simply egg more houses with them and teach them their catchphrase laugh.
