Terrorsaur discovers a floating island containing a vast cache of energon. After gaining a massive power-boost from the raw energon, Terrorsaur overthrows Megatron and declares himself the new leader of the Predacons.

Tropes

  • BFG: Terrorsaur's guns are much larger when he's empowered. His hand held blaster that is normally the size of a pistol is inflated to the size of a large rifle.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: What happens when Terrorsaur overpowers Megatron.
    Terrorsaur: "Megatron is scrap, yesssssss."
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Empowered-Terrorsaur crushes Megatron without much effort.
    • Curb Stomp Cushion: By contrast, while Terrorsaur does defeat Optimus in their later aerial duel, Optimus is better prepared for Terrorsaur's raw power and actually manages to take him by surprise using more evasive tactics.
  • Didn't Think This Through: When Terrorsaur inexplicably shows up stronger than ever, everyone is curious as to how he did it. Cue members of both sides tracking him down, discovering his secret, and fighting over it. Not to mention, you know, while he's gone they just repaired Megatron.
  • Eat the Camera: Rattrap does this when he realizes what Optimus's plan to get off the exploding mountain is.
Rattrap: (As Optimus runs to the edge) Oh man, oh man, oh man, don't tell me you're gonna... (Close up on his mouth) JUMP!
  • Foreshadowing: While Terrorsaur is generally portrayed as the Starscream expy early in the series, Tarantulas's treacherous nature is somewhat highlighted in this episode, and is expanded on as the show progresses.
  • Hour of Power: Terrorsaur is able to gain a power boost from the mountain, but it only lasts for a few minutes at a time before he needs to recharge.
  • Idiot Ball: Terrorsaur never considers the possibility that one of the other Predacons might try to do to him what he did to Megatron, and when Optimus confronts him at the mountain he just decides to attack the Maximal leader rather than question how Optimus found the mountain and what he might be doing there.
  • Most Common Card Game: As Cheetor returns to base, Rattrap has a computer card game (Old Maid, according to TFWiki) going, and he's purportedly down half a million. He's rather irritated when Optimus shuts it off before he can finish the current hand.
  • Noodle Incident: Megatron says he previously had to teach Terrorsaur a lesson about being The Starscream.
  • Oh, Crap!: At the end of the episode, Terrorsaur returns to base and encounters a very angry, fully repaired Megatron and turns as white as a sheet.
    Megatron: "Well, well...look who's BACK."
    Terrorsaur: (Squeaks) "Help!"
  • Power High: Upon inadvertently absorbing the mountain's energon and becoming stronger than ever, Terrorsaur felt elated.
Terrorsaur: I've never felt such power! I'M INVINCIBLE! Megatron...
  • Power Makes Your Voice Deep: Terrorsaur's voice becomes slightly deeper during his power surge.
  • Tempting Fate: While returning to the Predacon base, Terrorsaur is bitter that the Maximals destroyed his power source, but looks on the bright side that he got rid of Megatron. Cue said Predacon stepping out of the ship, fully repaired and angry.
  • This Cannot Be!: The others are stunned by Terrorsaur taking out Megatron, but Waspinator in particular has this reaction.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After secretly observing Terrorsaur blast Megatron to pieces and then threaten to take on the Maximals next, Cheetor can only say, "Ultra-bad."
  • Undying Loyalty: Despite Terrorsaur putting Tarantulas in charge while he is gone, Scorponok contests the choice, arguing he should be in charge due to being Number Two... and Tarantulas, being more interested in following Terrorsaur to figure out the source of his sudden power, gives up the position to him without a fight. With only Waspinator left to command, Scorponok's first and sole order to him is to help him repair Megatron.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Terrorsaur only defeats Megatron in their fight through his sheer raw power and the fact that Megatron didn't know what his opponent was now capable of. By contrast, Optimus does a better job when he faces Terrorsaur aware of his opponent's power and with an actual plan in mind. Aware that Terrorsaur's circuits can't hold his power boost for long, Optimus exploits their mutual flight abilities to draw Terrorsaur away while Rattrap destroys the mountain, and even getts in a few direct hits through taking Terrosaur by surprise, keeping him so occupied that the Predacon runs down his power boost before he can kill Optimus.
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: When Terrorsaur sees an angry Megatron back on his feet at the end of the episode, his body stiffens and his pupils drastically shrink.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Not that he wasn't twisted to begin with, but Terrorsaur lets out a maniacal laugh when he first supercharges.
  • Written-In Absence: According to Optimus, Dinobot is out in the field and beyond the usual range of the comlinks.

Look Who's Back!

Terrorsaur laments that the Maximals defeated him, but at least takes solace that at least he got rid of Megatron. Then said Predacon steps out fully repaired and fully angry. Cue Terrorsaur turning pale.

How well does it match the trope?
