Go To

Mainline in: 1.9.0 and after
Created by: Dan Gerhards (beetlenaut)
Takes place in: 626—627 YW

Taking place around the same time as Eastern Invasion, the campaign is set in the mermen city of Jotha. Kai Krellis is the new kai of Jotha after his father fell in battle against the orcs. Not too long after that, he already has to face a big challenge, namely Mal-Ravanal's undead invasion (explored in Eastern Invasion). When the undead proves to be too much for the young kai, Krellis, his advisor Cynthia and the merfolk set out to the ocean to get some help Cynthia's teacher Tyegëa and her band of priestesses.

This campaign provides example of:

  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Invoked, Kai Krellis starts as a level 0 unit and he must get stronger to survive: a special requirement for the second scenario forces the player to take Kai to level 1 before he can escape the capital.
  • Flaming Sword: Kal Krellis is ordered to get one from a lich by Tyegëa to show that he is worthy of being helped. Once that is done, any unit can equips themselves with the flaming sword.
  • Giant Squid: You can obtain the help of Inky, a tame Giant Squid which, at least in earlier versions of the game, can be upgraded into a Kraken.
  • Slave Liberation: The plot of "Slavers". Krellis's group meet an escaped merman slave Teeloa and decides to free all the slaves from the saurian slavers.
  • Static Role, Exchangeable Character: If Kai Krellis and his mermen somehow manage to kill any of the enemy commanders in the second scenario, they will be replaced with Suspiciously Similar Substitutes in the final scenario.
  • Taking You with Me: The in-universe reason why you can't let the Silver Wizard escorting you to the Flaming Sword die is because he wields a staff that threatens to destroy the merfolk if he is killed. Once he dropped the staff in favor of the sword, it is save to let him die (or rather, kill him and take the sword).
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: After explaining that the merfolk don't have to deal with Mal-Ravanal since he has been destroyed by the Wesnothians, the epilogue explains what happens to each surviving party members (if they survive the campaign, that is), namely Tyegëa, Cylanna, Gwabbo, Teeloa, Keshan, Krellis (the only one guaranteed to survive) and lastly Inky.
  • Where It All Began: The first scenario takes place in Jotha where Krellis must defend the city from the undead. The final one takes place in the same city when Krellis returns to liberate it from the undead.
