Recap / Batman Wayne Family Adventures Episode 52 Assassin

Go To

The Bat family is playing "Assassin" again. The only rule? No one tells Batman. It ends as well as you think.

Tropes:

  • Berserk Button: Don't use Damian's pets (especially Titus) as bait for him, even if it's a game and there's no chance they'll actually get hurt. He will not take it lightly.
  • Big "NO!": Steph screams "No!" when Jason hits her in the back with paint balls.
  • Blatant Lies: When Bruce finds paint splattered on the porch, he asks Duke and Damian if they and their siblings are playing Assassin again. They swear that they aren't and are offended that he asked. The second he leaves, they pull out their paint guns.
  • Bond One-Liner: After he and Cassandra team up to shoot Jason, Duke says that Stephanie (who Jason shot earlier while she was distracted by patrol) sends her greetings.
  • Chaos While They're Not Looking: Bruce checks in on Duke and Damian, confirming that they're not playing paintball assassin in the manor. They deny it ("I was merely painting outside today..."), but as soon as he leaves the room, they whip out the paintball guns and point them at each other.
  • Dark Horse Victory: It looks like Cassandra is going to win again when she gets tagged by someone, even though all the other players seen so far have been taken out. The real winner of the Assassin game? Bluebird!
  • Foreshadowing: Damian warns Duke that he's going to end up being betrayed when Duke suggests he join the alliance. After he and Cass shoot Jason, Cass shoots him, just like Damian predicted.
  • Mutual Kill: Tim hits Damian with a paintball after luring him with a recording of Titus barking, but not quickly enough to prevent Damian from getting a shot off in turn.
  • Noodle Incident: Duke mentions that Bruce banned Assassin after the last game got out of control, but what specifically happened is left to the reader to puzzle about.
  • Nothing Personal: Cass's answer as to why she shoots Duke after they teamed up to shoot Jason.
  • Offhand Backhand: As Stephanie rants about Jason tagging her during patrol, the Mad Hatter tries to sneak away. Steph punches him unconscious without looking or pausing in her tirade.
  • Serious Business: The Bat family really take their game as if it's life or death.
