Recap / Batman Wayne Family Adventures Episode 111 Haley

Go To

Tim crashes at Dick's apartment in Blüdhaven and has trouble with his oldest brother and said brother's puppy.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Cuteness Equals Forgiveness: When Tim gets frustrated with being the only one cleaning, Dick tells Haley to go to him. Tim declares sending Haley in won't distract him...but after a few moments of her gazing at him with her big blue eyes, he says that she's too cute for her own good.
  • Food as Bribe: Discussed. Dick pretends to think Tim was calling him cute instead of Haley. When Tim irritably protests that he obviously meant the dog, Dick says that they're both easy to bribe with peanut butter.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: Dick has a puppy he loves, and even Tim can't resist her adorable gaze.
  • Men Can't Keep House: Averted. Dick's apartment is spotless except for the dirt Tim tracked in, which Dick makes him vacuum up by himself. The only problem Tim runs into is puppy pouncing.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Narrating the Present: Dick provides superhero narration for Haley as she attacks the vacuum. Tim, who's actually doing the vacuuming, does not find it amusing. Dick begs to differ.
  • Nature Abhors a Vacuum Cleaner: Whatever villain Haley is fighting in Dick's hammy narration, she's attacking the vacuum cleaner in real life. Tim, who's trying to use it, isn't pleased.
  • Precious Puppy: Haley is an adorable puppy who gets cooed over by her owner and even manages to distract Tim from his irritation with being made to clean up by himself...briefly.
  • Punny Name: The puppy is nicknamed "Bitewing", quite possibly by her owner.
  • Shout-Out: When Tim says Haley is "too cute for your own good", Dick says thank you. Tim says "I could not have been more clearly talking to the dog." This line is taken from a Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode, "Halloween IV".
  • Truth in Television: Haley enjoys peanut butter, which some dogs get as a treat in real life.
