Recap / Bar Rescue S 6 E 26 Dalias Inferno

Go To

Jon travels to San Antonio to help a bar owner whose life-of-the-party personality has set the standard for indulgent on-the-job drinking and unprofessional practices.

This work contains examples of:

  • Establishing Character Moment: The first scene of the episode is an interview with Melissa and Dalia. The interviewer asks how much Dalia drinks, which Melissa replies with, "Dalia drinks like she sucks dick - on a regular basis." Dalia just laughs.
  • Jerkass: Melissa the bartender. None of the other employees like her, with Krystal calling Melissa a "little bitch," which Melissa seems to prove by claiming that she is the daughter that Dalia always wanted while also disparaging and slut shaming Dalia (her boss) every chance she gets. It gets so bad that Taffer (on Dalia's behalf) fires Melissa for her poor service and poor attitude.
  • Out of Focus: Ed the barback gets the least amount of screentime of the employees that talk.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Dalia is 54-years-old and yet her daughter, Krystal, acts more mature than her hard-drinking party mom, who was at risk of losing her house and moving in with her daughter and grandchild. Throughout the episode, Krystal desperately tries to get Dalia and bartender Melissa to behave, and only achieves success with Dalia with Taffer's help. When Dalia breaks down in tears after the stress test, Krystal is seen comforting her mother. That said, Dalia and Krystal do seem to love each other, as Krystal wants her mother to succeed while Dalia cries because her single mother daughter needs to bar to support child.
