Tropes:
- Death Seeker: Seeing Eren again for the first time in years causes Reiner's guilt to crash over him, and he begs Eren to kill him and put him out of his misery.
- Dissonant Serenity: Eren acts incredibly calm and stoic as he meets Reiner for the first time in four years while also subtly threatening to kill everyone in the apartment above him.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Falco wonders why Reiner seems so terrified of "Kruger" even though he said they were old friends. Then he realizes that if Reiner knew "Kruger" for longer than four years the only time he could have met him was during the mission on Paradis.
- Fake Ultimate Hero: During his speech, Willy admits that the supposed hero Helos who defeated King Fritz in the Great Titan War never existed. Instead, Karl Fritz and the Tybur's manufactured a hero to sell the Eldian Empire's defeat.
- Freudian Excuse Denial: When Eren tells him that he understands now that Reiner and his friends were brainwashed to believe that the people in the Walls were devils and that it wasn’t their fault, Reiner denies this and tells Eren that he was the one who insisted that they had to continue the mission and that he should be blamed for killing Eren's mom.
- Great Offscreen War: According to Willy, after the Eldian Empire had finished conquering the entire world, they turned their animosity towards each other and eight of the Nine Titans engaged in a gigantic Titan war.
- Manipulative Bastard: Falco realizes that Eren used their friendship in order to secretly mail information to his comrades. Eren doesn't deny this and admits Falco is right.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Falco is left horrified when he finds out that Eren manipulated him in order to mail information to his comrades outside Liberio.
- "Not So Different" Remark: After spending time in Marley, Eren has come to realize that he and Reiner are now both the same, people who didn't have any choice in what happened and must move forward regardless of the cost. Unfortunately, this means that Eren is now going to commit the same kind of atrocity that the Warriors once committed to his people.
- Oh, Crap!: This is Reiner's default state throughout the episode once he sees his old friend Eren again and realizes he intends to do exactly what the Warriors once did to the Walls, and the end of the episode has him looking on in horror as Eren transforms in front of him and Falco.
- Shame If Something Happened: While the play begins, Eren casually mentions to Reiner that the apartment above them is filled with people eagerly awaiting the performance. Eren then holds up his hand showing Reiner that he cut his palm and can transform at anytime before insisting that he sit.
- This Means War!: As the title suggests, Willy officially declares war on the "Devils of Paradis". Unfortunately for him, Eren is close enough to accept the challenge.
- Wham Line: One from each side.Eren: I'll just keep moving forward... til I've killed my enemies.Willy: Consider this... A DECLARATION OF WAR!
