Hitch and Marlowe are captured by the fugitive Squad Levi, and after Jean fakes trying to kill them, they decide to aid the Scouts. Hange rescues Flegel Reeves from MP's looking to tie up loose ends; later on he tricks them into a Engineered Public Confession and gets the people of Trost on their side. Squad Levi attacks a MP checkpoint and interrogates the Central 1st Brigade Erwin is interrogated without success and is slated for public execution soon.
- The Bus Came Back: Hitch and Marlowe, who haven't been seen since the first episode of Season 2, reappear in this episode and join forces with the Survey Corps.
- Engineered Public Confession: Flegel, Hange and Moblit get some of the Central First MP's to confess to murdering Dimo and setting up the Survey Corps as the perpetrators in a seemingly abandoned neighbourhood unaware that a large number of Trost residents were still living there having heard every word.
- Failed a Spot Check: The 3 MP's that corner Flegel fail to notice dozens of people appear all around them in the "abandoned neighborhood" they're in.
- Grew a Spine: Flegel listens to Hange's advice to stand up for himself, even at the risk of his own life.
- Internal Reveal:
- Levi reveals to Hitch and Marlowe that Annie was the same Female Titan that destroyed Stohess Distract.
- Levi and the rest of his Squad find out that Kenny's last name is Ackerman.
- Just Between You and Me: Flegel tricks the MP's into an Engineered Public Confession by begging them to tell him why his father had to die. They humor him and their gloating gives everything away.
- Locked Out of the Loop:
- Hitch had no idea that the quiet, solemn, Annie she was roommates with was in reality the very Female Titan that destroyed Stohess Distract. She doesn't take it well when she finds out.
- Nile reveals in his internal monologue that even he had no idea about the ODM gear the 1st Brigade was using.
- Ramming Always Works: Squad Levi starts their attack on the MP checkpoint by ramming it with a wagon. We don't see the rest, but injured MP's are strewn everywhere afterwards.
- Secret Test of Character: Jean gives one to Hitch and Marlowe after being reminded of Eren through the latter's determination to see if they are really committed to standing against the government. The two end up succeeding and provide Levi Squad with information on an MP stronghold they can take over.
- The Tooth Hurts: Levi jams his foot into an MP's mouth and starts breaking teeth.
- You're Insane!: The MP that Levi tortures calls him a monster. Levi doesn't disagree.
