Recap / Archer S 7 E 5 Bel Panto Part I

Go To

The Figgis Agency is hired to guard Veronica Deane and her multi-million dollar emerald necklace. Naturally, things go south in a hurry.

Tropes:

  • Bookcase Passage: Veronica and Archer hide in a secret library.
  • Continuity Nod: Cheryl laughs at Cyril after Malory quipped that he's alone while she's got Ron, only for Cyril to retort that he and Cheryl had sex on a blimp.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The only hostages that the clowns keep prisoner happen to be all the characters that have any relevance to the plot. As in, the core cast, Ellis Crane, and Shapiro. Oh, and the band! Shapiro expresses his disbelief at this.
  • Monster Clown: A gang of clowns invade the mansion in pursuit of Veronica Deane's necklace. They have wacky names and masks that range from silly to terrifying.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Archer gives some very good reasons to a horrified Veronica Deane as to why he needed to Neck Snap the pink clown. He couldn't tie him up because there wasn't any rope nearby (and leaving him tied up would have given him the opportunity to escape or call the others), shooting him would have been loud enough to alert the others to their presence, and shooting someone point blank in an enclosed space wouldn't have done wonders for his tinnitus.
  • Neck Snap: Archer's fight with the pink clown ends with him doing this to the latter.
  • Rewatch Bonus: At the start of the party, Cheryl asks Shapiro to hire clowns because the party is boring. If you look closely after watching both parts, you can clearly see he's surprised she accidentally guessed his scheme.
  • Schmuck Bait: Wearing a necklace that's worth more than God in public is a dumb idea, something almost everyone notices and points out.
