A monstrous night creature is attacking the kingdom, which is all King Julien needs as his parents are back in the kingdom to evaluate him and see if Julien is fit to rule and to give the crown back to Uncle King Julien if necessary.

- Briefer Than They Think: The line of Julien Kings had always been implied to be rather grand, but here it is shown that Grandma Rose and King Julien II co-existed, implying nearly the entire dynasty occurred within three generations of lemur.
- Halloween Episode: The spooky nature of this episode is the closest the series gets to a Halloween episode, a spooky masquerade party even features as the centerpiece.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: Maurice is able to convince Night Creature Julien not to harm him, but once Julien hears the party going on, he attacks that instead.
