After King Julien accidentally ruins a small child's birthday party, he lies and blames it on a "mega gecko", causing the kingdom to fall apart from fear and paranoia due to the invented menace.

- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Julien has Timo build a robot Mega Gecko so that it can be publicly killed, putting the kingdom at ease, but Timo builds it too well and it runs wild like an actual Mega Gecko would.
- Ass Shove: The only way inside the Mega Gecko is through an access port in its butt. Julien tries to get in, but gets stuck partway.
- Bill... Bill... Junk... Bill...: How Julien lost the invitation to Todd's birthday party; he threw it out with all the rest of the junk.
- Bring Me My Brown Pants: During the hunt for the Mega Gecko, Ted asks if anyone has to "fear tinkle".
- Call-Back: Julien's tale of heroism raises his approval ratings beyond 100%, so extra branches have to be added to the Kumquat-O-Meter to properly represent it.
- He also uses his Chair Lemurtable disguise to spread rumors.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Todd is introduced in this episode, but his parents Tammy and Butterfish don't appear. He also doesn't go into attack mode.
- Fantastic Racism: The mega gecko paranoia becomes so great that eventually all lizards are suspected of working for it.
- Fun with Acronyms: Timo installed a manual override in the Mega Gecko that can only be accessed through the Bypass Unilateral Torque Thruster.
- Line-of-Sight Alias: While struggling to think of some explanation of why he ruined Todd's birthday party, the first thing he sees is a gecko, and he builds on from there with whatever he can find when he gets stuck in his story.
- Shout-Out: Some scenes involving the mega gecko are highly reminiscent of Jurassic Park, helped by the monster's similarity to a dinosaur.
- Snowball Lie: The mega gecko story takes on a life of its own and quickly becomes more and more exaggerated as it spreads.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: In what is becoming a running gag, Mort once again projectile vomits, this time as a result of being force fed walnuts as part of Julien's demonstration.
