Go To

Continues from De Geest In De Fles (Flying Carpet)

The hour at which the bottle can be opened is approaching, and the agents sent to prevent it are willing to do anything to get hold of the bottle on time. Meanwhile, Alfred has come up with the idea of opening it, carried away by his fantasy of a genie that fulfills wishes.

Tropes:

  • Dirty Coward: Dolf convinces the Evil Genie of Darkness to eat Alfred instead of him and runs away, leaving the duck to his fate.
  • Fade Around the Eyes: Happens briefly in the scene where Dolf is watching Alfred trying to open the bottle.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: The Genie can't recall his encounter with the sheikh's ancestor, only remembering that he was almost freed 2000 years ago but something prevented it. Later he remembers the trick the ancestor used when Alfred tries the same trick.
  • Never Trust a Title: Both in english and the original dub. The magic carpet is completely unimportant, and the "holy turban" only appears innthe last few seconds of the episode.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Ollie's reaction when he sees the tigers who just threatened to kill him are chasing him with a flying carpet.
    • The tigers are too late to stop Alfred and Dolf from opening the bottle. They panic and hide, for good reason.
  • Our Genies Are Different: At one point Alfred imagines several different types of genie: a Benevolent Genie with a big beard, a big evil Jackass Genie, and a beautiful woman. Unfortunately, the actual genie turns out to be the second option.
  • Shout-Out: Alfred reads some version of Aladdin.
  • Skewed Priorities: After getting spooked by a hallucination of a malevolent feline genie, Alfred takes time to wonder whether it's a man or a woman.
  • Weakened by the Light: The light from Alfred's lantern hurts the Genie so much that he eventually retreats back into his bottle.
