Recap / Ahmed And Salim Osama Bin Laden Is Dead

Go To

Ahmed, Salim, and Yasser hear the news about Osama Bin Laden's death and every member of the family mourns his loss in a different way.

  • Formula-Breaking Episode: This episode takes a break from the typical comedic style of the show and instead takes a surprisingly serious turn, having The Majhayeff Family deal with the death of their uncle in a very serious way.
  • Hidden Depths: We get a lot of emotional insight to the personalities of Ahmed, Salim, and Yasser.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Salim asking "Why do bad things happen to good people?" after hearing about the murder of Osama Bin Laden.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Beneath his hateful, brutish, and disgusting exterior, Yasser is shown, deep-down, to actually be a kind and loving father to his kids in this episode, helping to comfort them in their time of grievance over Osama Bin Laden in an actually competent manner. He even cries himself, over the loss of his brother.
  • Killed Off for Real: Keeping up with the death of his real-life self, Osama Bin Laden is killed off the series for good, having been hunted down and shot to death by SEAL Team Six.
  • Men Don't Cry: Unlike Salim, Ahmed bottles up his emotions and tries not to cry over the death of his uncle until he can't anymore. When Yasser tries to comfort him, Ahmed shoos him away, not wanting to be coddled like a baby.
  • Mood Whiplash: After a fake-out revival of Osama Bin Laden, (which was all just in Yasser's head) we get an immediate smash cut to the news article that exhibit's Bin Laden's death.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: This episode completely ditches all of the humor, running gags, and typical goofy antics of the regular show to deliver a very serious drama episode about The Majhayeff Family mourning over their deceased uncle.
