An unexpected critic shows up at Ice King's latest Fionna and Cake book reading.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Villainy: The Fionna and Cake version of Abracadaniel (fittingly named Abracadanielle) is implied to be an antagonist.
  • Bait-and-Switch: At first it seems like Fionna and Cake are actually real... but it's actually just a rabbit pretending to be her.
  • Brick Joke: When asked how he gets ideas for his stories, Ice King bluntly says they're beamed into his head every night. He turns out to be telling the truth, as the end of the episode reveals.
  • Comic Books Are Real: Double-subverted; at least one character from Ice King Fionna & Cake stories appears to be real and has the tape to prove it. However, she turns out to be a fraud and thinks the tape is some old TV show. Then the ending reveals the tape and Ice King's dreams are both peering into another dimension where Fionna & Cake are real.
  • Heel Realization: The rabbit masquerading as Fionna realizes she is acting more like the mummy from the video than Fionna. She runs away yelling "Forgive me, Fionna!"
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Ice King correctly suspects "Fionna" isn't who she says she is, but believes she's a mummy.
  • Sequel Hook: While this at first appears to be another one-off episode for the Ice King’s Fionna and Cake sub-plot, the ending reveals that their world is real after all and that they’re being beamed into Ice King’s mind. This didn't come up in the series proper, but years later in Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake.
  • The Un-Reveal: So what exactly are Fionna and Cake? The episode offers no definite answer… but the sequel show does.
  • Wham Shot: In the end of the episode, a red beam delivers Fionna and Cake adventures into a sleeping Ice King.
