Grand Finale: Reed, by now definitely one of L.A.'s finest, joins the Vice squad to learn about being involved in major investigations, such as the ongoing surveillance of a drug and child pedophile ring. In the process, Reed saves Malloy from being killed during a shootout (in which the ring is busted) and his marriage takes a real hit ... but in the end, Jean concedes this is the life of being a police officer's wife and is proud of Reed when he earns the LAPD's Medal of Valor. In the end, Reed says he's planning on taking a detective's exam (perhaps to fulfill an earlier goal of him being a homicide investigator), but still has the day-to-day beat work at hand, and it is his sharp eye and attention to briefings that help bust a typewriter theft ring.
