Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog: so fast that [[GettingCrapPastTheRadar not even the censors can keep up with him]].
[[AC:{{Video Games}}]]
* ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'':
** ''Adventure 2'' was rated 3+/E for everyone, but the lyrics to "Kick the Rock!" of the Wild Canyon stage get a little suggestive about Rouge.
--> Yeah, Rouge, she's sexy and smooth!\\
A double cross spot-thief, that's out for my jewels,\\
I'm feelin' her in mysterious ways.
** The theme for ''Sonic Adventure 2'''s stage Death Chamber says "[[ You're damn right, Knuckles!]]", though only in the original Dreamcast version of the game. [[note]]It was censored in the UsefulNotes/NintendoGameCube version by removing the conversation containing the line in question from the song.[[/note]]
** Rouge got away with [[JigglePhysics jiggle physics]] -- to the point of {{Gainaxing}} at certain points -- throughout the game. The JigglePhysics of Rouge become funnier when you realize that her boobs bounce in time with her ears.
** The ''absolute'' example of Rouge's radar busting: Within Rouge's textures in ''Sonic Adventure 2'' is a texture that features her ''[[ mysteriously detailed nethers.]]''
** In an incredibly easy-to-miss FunnyBackgroundEvent, Sonic seems to be stretching as Amy and Tails cheer upon making it into Eggman's pyramid base. Except Amy jumps upwards, and one can briefly notice Sonic's eyes following her -- [[AccidentalPervert from behind, as her dress flares up in the back at that moment.]] Sonic just sort of [[ChasteHero continues his stretches as he looks off to the side like nothing happened.]] The implications may not have been intended, but the way his mouth briefly opens when it happens certainly doesn't help.
** The game's [[ final boss, The FinalHazard.]] The fact that it's a moaning, writhing beast which shoots lasers from its underside could be unintentional, but where's the Eclipse Cannon pointing?
** ''Sonic Adventure 2'' actually managed to get away with not only having the government kill everyone aboard the ARK, but also manage to have Gerald Robotnik being executed by firing squad. Sure, they didn't show the actual death, but the fact they clearly implied it in an E-rated game is astonishing. The later portrayal of this massacre in ''Shadow the Hedgehog'' continues to imply that much blood was spilt during the incident.
** The scene with Amy being held hostage. [[HostageSituation Dr. Eggman points a gun at Amy's head]], which wouldn't usually fly in an E-rated game. And immediately afterwards, he sends Sonic out into space in a basic equivalent of being StrappedToABomb.
** It seems the ESRB eventually caught on; the XBLA, PSN, and Steam ports of the game [[SameContentDifferentRating bumped the rating up to E-10+]].
* In the first ''VideoGame/SonicRiders'' game, the tricks you do are named, though you have to know the right series of button presses to perform specific ones, and S rank and higher trick combos unlock character-specific moves. A lot of these are VERY suggestive. One of the tricks Rouge can do while using a Skate-type gear [[labelnote:easily]]just by holding right for long enough after jumping off a ramp[[/labelnote]] is named "Sexy Shot", and her default board is called "Temptation."
* ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes'':
** Amy blasphemes. Nothing severe ("Holy Cow!" "Oh my God!"), but it's something that rating boards in English-speaking countries tend to frown on. And yet, it didn't hurt their rating in the least.
** Another ''Heroes'' example: before Vector asks Amy a question, Amy assumes that he's asking for a date and that it will have to wait another time. In hindsight, Amy, a 12-year-old girl rejects going out with a 20-year-old Vector.
* ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'':
** Knuckles' theme song , "Unknown From ME", contains the line "Wild and hungry ain't a damn thing funny".
** An ongoing dispute since ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure'' was released in 1999 rages: just what exactly did the singer say at 1 minute into "My Sweet Passion (Theme of Amy Rose)"? [[{{Mondegreen}} Nobody seems to know for sure]], but to paraphrase ''Film/BladesOfGlory'', it's (probably) provocative. Just [[ listen]] to the lyrics all the way through. Consensus: "The Sphinx looked so cute, I had to shave it." In a sultry voice. And the song was long enough to be played during Amy's end credits ''sans'' lyric-masking dialogue. It doesn't help that the background music (SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic that it is) wouldn't feel out of place in a porno... and some of the rest of the lyrics are a bit suggestive.
** Amy herself [[PantyShot crosses straight into this]] from the very moment you choose her at the Character Select screen. Her character model has very 'loose' skirt physics, so in certain windy areas and in the Pinball boards in the Casino, [[MarilynManeuver her skirt will billow up a lot.]]
* ''[[VideoGame/SonicRushSeries Sonic Rush]]'' has awesome music, but is rather blatantly iffy with [[ "Vela Nova."]] Especially when taken in account the context it was used (a fight between Sonic and Blaze). The moans, the noises of deep breathing, and the sexy female voice moaning "Let's do it" in the ending? Veeeeery subtle. The song's title is Portuguese for "new candle", and from there, even with Blaze's [[PlayingWithFire pyrokinesis]], it's not too hard to interpret that in the context of something like "Sonic's new flame." Make of that what you will.
* "His World", the theme song of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'', has "ass" exclaimed. It was censored in-game, but ''VideoGame/SonicGenerations'' uses the original uncensored version and gets away with the E rating.
* The Wii version of ''VideoGame/SonicColors'' gives us a nice gem too as Orbot and Cubot pick up pieces of Rotatatron, though it only really falls into this if you think about it.
--> '''Cubot:''' The bossman said to wrangle every piece o' this mess. When you consider what we're doin' from a robot's point of view, it's actually pretty gruesome.
* ''VideoGame/ShadowTheHedgehog'' has a good bit of profanity, gun violence, and ([[AlienBlood alien]]) blood thanks to its attempt to be DarkerAndEdgier, but still got away with an E-10+ rating. Despite the cutscene being cut out in some versions, it also has a 12-year-old's death not just implied, but shown in picture form.

[[AC:{{Comic Books}}]]
* ''ComicBook/{{Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog}}'':
** In Archie's comic, Rouge gets into a [[CatFight personal confrontation]] with Julie-Su, leading to this exchange:
-->'''Julie-Su:''' [[StandardFemaleGrabArea Let go of me]], [[CurseCutShort you b]]--\\
'''Rouge:''' Bat, dear. Remember it.
** And ten issues later:
--->'''Knuckles:''' You'd do that, Rouge?\\
'''Julie-Su:''' She'd '''do''' anything. \\
'''Rouge:''' Watch it, pinky.
** Blaze has been having visions about Sonic in her sleep, and seeks him out. They fight, and afterwards, we get the following exchange:
--->'''Blaze:''' You are '''indeed''' the one I have sought out. No question.\\
'''Sonic:''' You've been looking for '''me'''? Who '''are''' you exactly?\\
'''Blaze:''' The one who will now haunt your dreams the way you have haunted mine! Farewell, Sonic... Until I have '''need''' of you!\\
'''Sonic:''' (thinking to himself) Haunt my dreams, huh? I wonder...
** We get this little jewel after Tails asks if Antoine n' Bunnie will be bored while he's off at his little workshop. If you keep in mind that they're supposed to be on their honeymoon, one doesn't have to guess what they plan to do with their alone time...
-->'''Antoine:''' "Will we be bored", he asks.
-->'''Bunnie:''' You hush. He's still a young'un.
** An earlier example from the aforementioned Rouge examples: In the SpinOff ''Knuckles the Echidna'', one arc is centered around one of Charmy Bee's friends dying of [[FunWithAcronyms Lemon Sundrop Dandelion]] poisoning. Take the first letter from each word and what do you get? Subtle, huh?
* Inverted in ''ComicBook/SonicTheComic'': At first the writers almost got into a lawsuit once due to the fact they weren't listening to their guidelines, but later Sega stopped paying attention. Thus the writers were given a major amount of freedom that other adaptations weren't. Sonic and friends could be in the presence of alcohol (not a GRatedDrug, and they refused to drink it though), one arc was named "Village of the Damned", and violence abounded (though [[BloodlessCarnage bloodless]]).
* In one of the old ''Sonic Grams'' online for the Archie comics, Fiona and Scourge have this exchange.
-->'''Fiona''': Time for bed, babe.
-->'''Scourge''': But--
-->'''Fiona''': You wanted the letter, remember?
-->'''Scourge''': (mutters)
** Thinking about his character, what else might he have wanted?

* In [[Manga/SonicTheHedgehog one]] of the official ''Sonic the Hedgehog'' {{Manga}}, Anton Beruka, a lizard hooligan, forces Eimi[[note]]Nikki's (Sonic's AlterEgo) girlfriend and an early representation of Amy Rose[[/note]] to [[VillainousCrush date]] and ''kiss'' him.
* ''Anime/SonicX'':
** In the original Japanese script, as Topaz starts to handcuff Rouge at one point, the latter taunts the former with a line that directly translates to something like "So, you're into hard play, huh?" Rouge accused Topaz of being into S&M. In a kids show.
** Several moments when Rouge flirts with Knuckles: "I hope we share a cell together..." come to mind. In Episode 39, Rouge asks Knuckles if he's "energetic at night?", prompting him to deeply blush.
** In the dub, all mentions of death are considered inappropriate for American children, but having Rouge pull a locket out of her cleavage is A-okay.
** Yet another with Rouge, in "A New Start" , after Sonic comes back, Knuckles and Rouge stop fighting. Knuckles tells Rouge she looks awful, which leads her to come lunging toward Knuckles, at which point they move off camera. The dialogue makes it seem like Rouge is tickling Knuckles, but [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything some viewers can think of it as something more]]...
** A blink-and-you'll-miss-it one from "Countdown to Chaos" that doubles as a FunnyBackgroundEvent. At one point, the story briefly cuts to Chris' three friends from school, Danny, Helen and Francis, while Sonic speeds past them. While the focus is on Francis wondering what Sonic is doing, off to the side you can see Danny taking a peek when Helen's skirt blows up, and Helen's [[DeathGlare appropriate response]] when she catches him.

[[AC: WesternAnimation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM'':
** A very subtle but clever example occurs during in "Warp Sonic", with Sally cutting Sonic off just before he recites a famous rhetorical question:
-->Sonic: Sal, is the sky blue? Is dirt dirty? [[CurseCutShort Do bears-]][[note]]For those not versed in English idioms, he was about to ask if [[ToiletHumour bears shit in the woods]].[[/note]]
-->Sally: Sorry I asked.
** Another episode had Sonic using [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything suggestive dialogue]] while leading them around Robotropolis:
-->Sonic: (to Sally and Bunnie): Come on! It's okay ladies, I'll show you the pipes!
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'':
** "You robot chickens make me sick. Get a couple of pints of [[DrunkOnMilk motor oil]] in ya and suddenly you're a tough guy!"
** In "Lovesick Sonic", there's a scene where an arrow points to Robotnik's underground drilling vehicle that is labeled "The Dastard", but it looks like "The Bastard".
** When Katella the bounty huntress arrives, Coconuts falls to the floor and tries to look under her dress and smiles before she kicks him.
** Katella's whole role in the "Zoobotnik" episode is remarkably dirty for a kids' cartoon. It qualifies as sexual harassment towards Robotnik, [[MasterOfTheMixedMessage which seems odd in a show whose aesops are otherwise against sexual harassment]].
** The sequence where Dr. Robotnik makes his extremely busty robot wife Omletta:
---> '''Robotnik:''' "Well, what do you think?"\\
'''Grounder:''' "She has ''really'' big...."\\
'''Scratch:''' "HAIR!"
** Robotnik in a bikini.
** From "Birth of a Salesman":
---> '''Grounder:''' You can take your Freezebanger and-!
* ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom'':
** From the very first episode:
-->'''Sonic:''' You're gonna be able to play lots of golf, and spend time with the grandkids.
-->'''Tails:''' I don't ''have'' grandkids.
-->'''Sonic:''' Well, now's your chance to get some.
** From "My Fair Sticksy":
-->'''Eggman:''' Something smells fishy here...
-->'''Fish in a bowl:''' I have irritable [[{{Pun}} bowl]] syndrome.
** From "Cow Bot":
-->'''Tails:''' That is some... ''interesting'' cocoa.
-->'''Eggman:''' Wanna guess my secret ingredient?
-->'''Sonic:''' If he says "love," I'm outta here.
** From "Blue With Envy" (Talking about [[TotallyRadical Swifty]]):
-->'''Sticks''': If he ever visited me, I'd disable all my booby-traps.
-->'''Amy''': You NEVER disable your booby-traps!
-->'''Sticks''': I know!
-->'''Sonic''': (looks at screen) Unrgh...
** In "Tails' Crush", when Zooey first notices Tails, he becomes so lovestruck that his tails accidentally propel him into the air. Naturally, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything some viewers thought it was an erection joke]].
** From "Bro-Down Showdown":
-->'''Comedy Chimp:''' Now Doctor Eggman, fill in the blanks: Whenever Sonic does blank, I blank myself.
** From "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies":
-->'''Eggman''': (arriving at the Fuzzy Puppy meetup) Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I was polishing my schnauzer...
** From "Designated Heroes"
-->'''Sonic''': (Said while sleeping waiting for Eggman to show up) Go... Go away Amy, I'm not in the mood.
** From "Multi-Tails" in which Tails bursts in on Eggman in the shower:
-->'''Eggman''': Bring me a towel!
--> '''Tails''':(holding a small hand-towel) is this a towel?
-->'''Eggman''': What am I supposed to cover with that?! [[TeenyWeenie Are you making fun of me]]?!
** From "Sticks and Amy's Excellent Staycation," Amy reveals that she has just the thing to keep Eggman distracted.
-->'''Amy''': Lucky for us, I just happen to own this homemade Sonic doll! [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial Which I keep around for totally legitimate, definitely non-creepy reasons]]. ''(laughs nervously)''
** Eggman urges Orbot and Cubot to delete his browsing history and not look at it in "The Haunted Lair"
** A layered one occurs in "Return of the Buddy Buddy Temple of Doom."
-->'''Eggman''': Ah, Sonic the Hedgehog! Snooping as usual, I see! [[labelnote:Explanation]]This is a reference to a meme from WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog, where the same line was cropped to sound like "Pingas."[[/labelnote]]
** Occurs with Knuckles in "If You Build It, They Will Race":
--> '''Knuckles''': Hurry up before [[DrivenToSuicide we realize that skydiving over a volcano is a bad idea!]]
** In "The Biggest Fan" (basically an entire episode [[TakeThatAudience satirizing the more extreme members of the adult Sonic fanbase]]) when Mark traps Sonic in his house, he forces him to re-enact his fanfiction and mentions that he'll try to find one that's family-friendly. A reference to the Sonic fandom being notorious for containing large amounts of Rule34.
