Rafiki: What was that?! Ha ha, the weather! Very peculiar, don't you think?
Simba: Yeah. Looks like the winds are changing.
Rafiki: Ahh, change is good.
Simba: Yeah, but it's not easy. I know what I have to do, but going back means I'll have to face my past. I've been running from it for so long.
*Rafiki hits Simba over the head with his staff*
Simba: OW! Jeez, what was that for?!
Rafiki: It doesn't matter! It's in the past!
Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it.
*Rafiki again swings the staff at Simba, who ducks it*
Rafiki: Ha! You see? So what are you going to do?
Simba: First, I'm gonna take your stick! *he grabs Rafiki's staff and tosses it*
Rafiki: Nononono! Not the stick! *sees Simba running off* Hey! Where are you going?
Simba: I'm going back!
Rafiki: Good! Go on! Get out of here! *cackles and howls victoriously*

Mufasa: Look, Simba, everything the light touches is our kingdom.
Simba: Wow...
Mufasa: A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king.
Simba: And this'll all be mine?
Mufasa: Everything.
Simba: Everything the light touches... What about that shadowy place?
Mufasa: That's beyond our borders. You must never go there, Simba.
Simba: But I thought a king could do whatever he wants.
Mufasa: There's more to being king than getting your way all the time.
Simba: There's more?
Mufasa: (chuckling) Simba...
(Mufasa and Simba walk through plains)
Mufasa: Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
Simba: But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope?
Mufasa: Yes, Simba, but let me explain: When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so, we are all connected in the great Circle of Life...

Scar: SARABI!
Sarabi: [ascends Pride Rock while disdainfully glaring at the hyenas. The hyenas growl.] Yes, Scar?
Scar: Where is your hunting party? They're not doing their job.
Sarabi: [calmly] Scar, there is no food. The herds have moved on.
Scar: No. You're just not looking hard enough.
Sarabi: It's over. There is nothing left. We have only one choice. We must leave Pride Rock.
Scar: We're not going anywhere.
Sarabi: Then you have sentenced us to death.
Scar: Then so be it.
Sarabi: [shocked] You can't do that.
Scar: I'm the king. I can do whatever I want.
Sarabi: If you were half the king Mufasa was, you would nev—
Scar: [backhands Sarabi to the ground] I'M TEN TIMES THE KING MUFASA WAS! [Simba leaps out and runs to Sarabi, visibly angry at Scar for hitting his mother. Scar mistakes Simba as Mufasa and is understandably frightened.] Mufasa?! No! You're dead!
Sarabi: [awakens at her son's nudge, but mistakes him as Mufasa as Scar did] Mufasa?
Simba: No. It's me.
Sarabi: [delighted] Simba? You're alive? [shocked] How can that be?
Simba: It doesn't matter - I'm home. [nudges Sarabi]
Scar: Simba...? Simba! I'm a little surprised to see you... alive. (glares at the hyenas, who gulp and slink back into the shadows)
Simba: [As Sarabi looks on with some pride] Give me one good reason why I shouldn't rip you apart.
Scar: [backing into a wall in fear] Oh, Simba, you must understand. The pressures of ruling a kingdom-
Simba: ...are no longer yours. Step down, Scar.
Scar: Oh, oh, ye - Well, I would, heh, naturally, heh - however, there is one little problem. You see them? [pointing to the hyenas above] They think I'M king.
Nala: [appears with the rest of the lionesses] Well, we don't. Simba is the rightful king.
Simba: The choice is yours, Scar. Either step down or fight.
Scar: [smugly] Oh, must it all end in violence? I'd hate to be responsible for the death of a family member. Wouldn't you agree, Simba?
Simba: That's not gonna work, Scar. I've put it behind me.
Scar: Eh, but what about your faithful subjects? Have they put it behind them?
Nala: Simba, what is he talking about?
Scar: [delighted] Ahhh, so you haven't told them your little secret. Well, Simba, now's your chance to tell them. Tell them - who is responsible for Mufasa's death! [The lionesses are startled at Scar's last line. All are concentrating on Simba.]
Simba: [steeling himself, then taking a step forward] I am.
Sarabi: [approaches her son with much grief] It's not true. Tell me it's not true.
Simba: [ashamed] It's true.
Scar: You see - he admits it! Murderer! [lightning crashes behind his head to emphasize the line]
Simba: No. It was an accident.
Scar: [walks around Simba in a circle as he accuses him] If it weren't for you, Mufasa would still be alive. It's your fault he's dead - do you deny it?
Simba: No.
Scar: [severely] Then... you're... guilty!
Simba: No. I'm not a murderer!
Scar: Oh, Simba, you're in trouble again. But this time, Daddy isn't here to save you. And now everyone... knows... WHY! [Scar has been backing Simba up the length of Pride Rock. After his last sentence, Simba slips over the edge and is clinging to the ledge by his forepaws. Lightning strikes below, igniting a fire.]
Nala: [in fear] Simba!
Scar: [sits back and pretends to think] Now this looks familiar. Hmm. Where have I seen this before? Let me think. Hmmm... hmmm. Ooh yes, I remember. This is just the way your father looked before he died. [grabs Simba with his claws as he did Mufasa, and whispers into Simba's ear] And here's MY little secret - I killed Mufasa.
[Simba's memories click back to that fateful instant. His voice blends with his younger voice in the scream of when his father died. In one giant leap, he lunges up and pins Scar on his back. Scar is caught completely by surprise and is understandably very nervous and shaken.]
Simba: NOOOOOOOO! ...Murderer! [the lionesses are startled by this new revelation]
Scar: [scared] No, Simba, please.
Simba: [furious] Tell them the truth.
Scar: Truth? But truth is in the eye of the behold - ughhh! [Simba starts to choke Scar] All right. All right. [quietly but harshly] I did it.
Simba: [threatening] So they can hear you.
Scar: [grudgingly, but clear] I killed Mufasa!
[Nala, Sarabi and the other lionesses are outraged by this revelation and try to maul Scar for this, but the hyenas attack and a large battle ensues]
