Of course dehumanization has dire consequences when it is incorrect. But while the quality of humanity is something we all do have and do need acknowledged, how good is it, really? Needed, but how good to have?
Humans have self-awareness, but we can also delude ourselves like no other creature on earth. Our potential for consciousness may be awe-inspiringly deep, but we also get the tails side of the coin, the potential for blindness of just as much depth and deranged detail. Our brains can work for us in incredible ways, but if they turn on us, they can work just as hard against us.
